The overconsuming hunger of the menopausal woman...

What's up with that?? I am in the headspace to lose weight, but oh my gawd the hunger!!! I've always dieted and once I was in the right headspace I could tolerate my hunger. Not anymore! Why? What's changed? What can I do? what can I take?

And yes this is S&B because I am short and plump with an overgrowing wardrobe of brand new clothes that either don't fit or look like crap because I need to lose at least 1 st, ideally 2.

Help!!

Hi, i am a 53 year old stressed out woman and just wanted to ask if anyone else experiencing extreme bloatedness/ weight gain when changing from the Evorel 50 to the Evorel Conti patch. Oh my word I have put on 3 pounds just this week alone and actually look like I'm carrying twins. I can't cope with it anymore. I'm okish on the 50mcg patch still bloated but everything changes when I switch to the Conti. It's a much higher dose and I feel and look absolutely awful to the point that i cant get undressed in front of my hubby. I'm thinking about coming off the patches again and trying out the mirena coil. Any advice would be 🙏
I do try and go gym at least once a week but work full time so nearly always tired. 😫
This Menopause is crap. Never know his ibzm going to feel. Ive tried going cold turkey and just sufferied n silence but that wasn't a good option either.
Thank you

Thanks everyone for your comments. I have managed intermittent fasting in the past and like someone else has mentioned, eating breakfast makes me ravenous for the rest of the morning/afternoon. However, I get up at 6am and start work at 08:30 and work with people all the time and having a loud rumbling stomach is really embarrassing. I also tend to feel lightheaded and can't see properly, so I end up stuffing my face with something quick.

Urrrgh I hear you OP 😢

Anyone with good or bad experiences with mirena coil. HRT patches are not right for me.

Spaceprincess · 20/06/2022 17:26

I'm on the same HRT as you, similar age.
Only thing that worked for me was Saxenda on private prescription.
I lost nearly 3 stone .

Spaceprincess thank you for your reply.
I will look into that. X

Don't fast stop dieting stop cutting out and lowering of important food groups! You've hit diet culture city and your body is pissed and fighting back, especially as it's hit this time of life.it needs all foods and balance.
Dieting is not the answer.your just craving all u deny yourself then gorge on it. Restrict-binge-shame goes the cycle round and round.
Eat regularly.dont skip leaving your body not trusting you and therefore scarcity mindset kicks in.
Have all food groups including low nutritious foods like choc and the things you have previously has off limits.this helps your body trust these are all available so once again you won't craaaave them.thwy just are another food.
Let your body learn to trust it's going to be fed again.eat.
Deprivingvyourself you getting both mental and physical hungry.your body is reacting to that.allowo g all foods.eating on hunger.sensibltvyes but with Llowance and your body will get better at supporting you

kateandme · 21/06/2022 05:40

Eafca good breakie.why are you starving yourself of food.
You don't need a wee first thing and not let yourself go.noooo because that would be crazy, unhealthy.same with food! We have put that crap onto food rules.drop an.alloe your body to feel fed.
Drip the food rules and guilt.allow.and you'll find you won't neeeeèeed to over indulge.food loses it moral bullshit.you just eat.
Choose good health supporting meals.

I’m loosely trying to apply the GALVESTON diet concepts. It’s meant for menopausal women.

Protein, fats and fibre at every meal is brilliant.
So some kind of protein - chicken, fish, tofu etc, fats - olive oil, avocado, fat in your protein (salmon, bacon etc) and fibre - beans, wholewheat, leafy greens.

It might be counterintuitive to include fats but if I have a (big) meal like this I’m not hungry for good 6 hours.

Also IF and resistance training. More muscle, needs more calories, so you can eat more!
I fast until about 11am, eat two big meals a day and do various resistance based exercise 4 times a week. Caroline Girvan is an excellent place to start.
