M&S high-waisted balloon jeans

I just got these jeans in 2 sizes - 14 and 16. The 16 feels too baggy around the waist, but the 14 is tight across my (enormous) bum and hips. They're really nice otherwise though; does anyone have them & do they stretch out when worn? Do they wash well?
I'm doing a low-buy year so really want to make sure I'm purchasing something that lasts!

I bought them earlier in the summer and had a similar thing. I thought the 10 (my usual size) was very neat, but the 12 was absolutely enormous. I returned both pairs in the end as I didn't want to take the chance that the 10 wouldn't give and end up with something that was uncomfortable for sitting in.

I think the sizing's quite erratic. I tried both the grey and the dark indigo. My usual size was fine in the blue but too tight in grey. I wanted the grey so I sized up. I prefer my jeans on the loose side anyway but they haven't stretched any larger. I think I've only washed them once but they were fine afterwards - no sign of any shrinkage.

The denim isn't particularly thick and I've a feeling they won't turn out to be my hardest wearing jeans ever, but I really like the shape and for the price, I think they're a decent buy. In fact I thought about sending for a second pair but couldn't be bothered playing the size lottery again.

Thank you @Floisme and @Judystilldreamsofhorses. God I hate ordering clothes online. I really like the shape too and I'm not sure which to go for (if either). I had no jeans in the spring and bought the M&S sienna ones - I actually had to size down to a 12 - now I ordered the boyfriend ankle grazes and 14 was way too small so I'd definitely need 16 - and something in between 14 and 16 in tthe balloon leg ones. I'm thinking of giving up and trying the 3-times more expensive Whistles ones, although that earlier thread about ethical companies made me want to favour m&s over Whistles

Actually the ones I got/sent back were green - if you are looking at blue denim then I think it does stretch out a lot more?

I also have the Whistles ones and love them. I’m not sure how they stack up ethically but my other faves are the Levi’s high loose taper which are quite ££ but absolutely lovely. Both they and Whistles size by waist which works better for me (small waist, big bum).

Oh, and both the Whistles and Levi’s actually do eg 29 (size 11) and so on, so that might work better for you?

I forgot to say thanks @Judystilldreamsofhorses. I ended up keeping the size 14s - I tried them again a few days later and, ahem, they seemed to fit better. I think my bloating depends on the time of the month, so basically these jeans will fit me about half the time Grin
Will also check out good old Levi's too, thanks!

I have a couple of pairs of these, I'm a standard size 12 and the 12 fit, but my khaki ones are looser on the waist than the blue ones. I don't think their sizing is v consistent.
