Flake and smudge free mascara?!

Does anyone have recommendations for mascara that doesn't flake or smudge?!

I must've tried 100 different ones, including YSL, Lancôme etc but they always seem to flake and smudge after a few hours.

Would love to hear about any that I may not have tried!

I use a eyelash primer before mascara and that seems to keep the lashes in place. I use an Estée Lauder one and it's brilliant, then it doesn't matter what mascara I use because it doesn't budge!

@weleasewoderick23 oooh that sounds amazing, I'll order one and give it a try! Thank you 😊

I used to work in retail and would get really hot and sweaty at work at times. I used to rely on tubing mascaras. I can't remember the brands now. Lots of them have the primer at one end and the black at the other. I think l'oreal do one. But you can search for them and find a tubing one in your price range.

I use benefit they're real. I think it's pretty good at not leaving marks around they eyes. Also an eye primer or bit of translucent powder can help with this.

Any tubing mascara - Clinique do one as do No7. Menopausal and they do not budge, may not have the high volume effect of others, but bonus is they come off with warm water rather than make up remover.

Lights camera lashes by tarte. It’s great.

Most/all mascaras smudge if you dont set underneath your eyes with enough powder, is this possibly the problem?
I can recommend benefit roller lash and as a cheaper alternative, maybelline sky high. I have only occasionally had smudges when i haven't applied powder properly and its a hot day etc, usually though i have no issues whatsoever.

I've used good old Maybelline Great Lash for decades and have never had a smudging or flaking problem.

Maybelline lash sensational
It's cheap and reeeally good.

No 7 Stay Perfect - the gold tube. It’s a tubing one. The only mascara that stays put all day for me no matter if it’s boiling hot or raining. Everything else just smudges, even waterproof. I have sensitive eyes and it’s gentle and I love that I can fully remove it with only water and a soft cloth so I don’t have to scrub only to look like a sore red panda

Thank you so much for all these suggestions! I didn't know about tubing mascaras so I'm definitely going to give those a go - starting with No 7 I think 😊

I posted on here last month as I needed a good mascara for my DDad’s funeral. The No 7 tubing mascara was recommended to me and it is excellent. www.boots.com/no7-stay-perfect-mascara-10156448

True, it doesn’t give the volume and thickness of other mascaras but still really like it and I’ll continue with it as my everyday mascara from now on. (And apparently don’t get the newer ‘ultra’ version of this which the reviews online say aren’t as good.)

Slacktacular · 06/09/2021 19:34

@sparticle I agree it’s a great every day mascara. I tried the Ultra version and actually put it in the bin after one use it was that bad, and I’m one of those martyrs that normally makes myself use up even things that are a bit crap. It was genuinely useless.

Thanks so much @Sparticle and @Slacktacular - I've ordered it!
