Bald spots

I know this is ultimately a health issue (under active Thyroid) but I’m so depressed about my hair. It’s so thin you can see me scalp. Just had it coloured and that hasn't helped as it’s like tiger stripes. Products don’t help. But what if anything can I do. I’ve had it short recently but it was such hard work. It’s now chin length. Feeling bloody miserable.

Has the GP also checked:
Ferritin
B12/folate
Vitamin D

A lot of the above deficiencies seem to go hand in hand with hypothyroidism-I’m treated for the lot- and can contribute to hair loss. If they have been tested it might be worth getting a printout of your results and the lab reference ranges. You would be marked as normal if your results were at the lower end of the normal range but you would be better being in the upper ranges of normal …….. although Drs think lower end is ‘normal’ & it’s enough.
Are you on adequate thyroxine? Taking it on an empty stomach at least 30 mins before caffeine contains drinks & at least an hour before iron/multivitamins?

I hope things improve for you soon Flowers

Dh has under-active thyroid and sees a general medicine consultant at the hospital not the gp. His levels are normal now.

Thanks both that’s really useful. I’m due bloods for a few other issues but have been cancelled as non essential. I’ll hopefully speak to the dr before to check the levels you mentioned.
