Is this style of dress outdated?

I have two of these dresses. Used to wear them to work with boots or trainers in the Before Times and now with a return to the office imminent, I'm not sure if it's an outdated style.

Any ideas?

So no criticism intended. It does look stylish. Modern midis are more floaty and tiered (and not office wear imo)

The dress is fine, it's the boots that are dated - I honestly can't remember the last time I saw someone in heels, let alone heeled boots, let alone those kind of stretchy sock boots (they blew up in 2016/17, I remember because the first time I saw someone wearing them was a mum on the school run when DS1 went to reception and suddenly they were everywhere).

I'm wearing high heeled over the knee boots today - straight off the Autumn/Winter 2021/22 catwalks. They feel fabulous.

Yes, the boots in the picture aren't great. You're right to go with ankle or a non stretchy version.
We're not allowed to wear trainers to work and I struggle with footwear at the moment.

Long dresses are still very much in but have definitely got flouncier since 2018. Everything now has a deep frill at the bottom so the split does feel a bit dated but it’s still a nice dress.

The dress is lovely and I'd wear it with boots but chunkier, flatter ones.

The boots make it look outdated. It looks fine with trainers.

God I wish this look would die a death is so ubiquitous, comfy I grant you, but it doesn’t look fresh and modern anymore it’s so commonplace it’s lost it’s punch.

Gorgeous dress but not with those boots. You could wear it with practically any flatter shoe/white trainer or ankle boot though.
