Excellent Customer Service: Other Stories

Credit where it’s due, I just received the best customer service from & Other Stories. They sent me an email with a 20% discount code. On the same day, I placed an order and attempted several times to use the code (I was logged-in), but just got an error message saying the code was invalid. I called them, the guy was lovely, but said because they were WFH, he couldn’t apply the code to an order. He advised me to place it without, then email (attaching details of the code/order etc) when I received the dispatched email (so the payment was in the system) and the discount amount would be refunded. Bit of a hassle, but gremlins do happen in electronic systems. When I sent the email, within 30 minutes, I received a very polite, friendly phone call apologising and and confirming the refund had been done!

I have never had such great service from such lovely friendly people.

I find if you are polite and friendly to customer service staff in general you get the same in return and good service.

@Slub Often the case, but there are some companies that just don’t care. Never had an almost immediate call back before though!

I worked in customer services years ago when I was an undergraduate. I always went the extra mile for people who were polite and civil. Nowadays I always try to get the agent on my side at the onset. If I have a complaint I emphasize that although I am not satisfied with the service I got from the company, I appreciate that its not the fault of the agent I am speaking to. I then ask if there is anything they can do to help. At the conclusion of the call I always thenk them for their help. If Im on live chat I always address the agent by name at the onset, say hello and goodbye so I dont treat them like a robot.

@memberofthewedding I do all that too (I’ve never worked in customer services), just I do in other interactions. I have dealt with companies that were unhelpful, but only about 2 in my 62 years! I do feel that the response time was exceptional with Other Stories though.
