What are you planning to wear to the office this autumn?

Just starting to think about autumn office wear (now it’s turned bloody freezing). Have struggled a bit with what to wear since I got back in the office in late spring so am looking for inspiration. What outfits have you got lined up?

@PandoraP

I was just googling this. I typically wear dresses, but I fancy wearing trousers now so might get some smart black ones and just wear with blouses. What shoes do I get though. I have no clue what boots / heeled shoes are in fashion now I have worn trainers for too long.
I’m exactly the same the whole shoe thing stumps me. I’d bought a couple of ankle boots from R&B that seemed to go with a lot of my stuff - dresses and trousers.

I’m not sure if these are completely hideous but I’m thinking of getting a pair of loafers to shlep about in www.russellandbromley.co.uk/loafer/124361

I'm the same, had mat leave though, then covid and now starting a new job, moving from local job to a role that's going to have me in the city schmoozing with people who can afford things.that I can't. I've decided to go with jersey dresses with soft blazers (whistles in the sale) and Chelsea boots as I too can't work out shoes that are flat (cannot wear heels due to health issues), smart but don't make me look like a girl at primary school.

Thankfully I can wear what I want to the office so it's going to be rolled jeans, hiker boots and fine knit jumpers. However I have to go to a 2 day conference in September with a gala dinner and I have no idea what to wear for the daytime!

I’m still working from home but have decided when I go back I’m going bold! All my outfits that I’ve save for best are being worn everyday.

I know that’s not exactly what you were looking for in terms of specifics.

I honestly can't be bothered being too officey anymore. It's just going to be leggings/tights/long top/shortish dresses, lace up flat boots. + my office is freezing. I work in a corporate head office for reference. I think most people are going to be pretty casual eg smart jeans and trainers.

@wink1970 that's what I wear except with white trainers! I'm currently trying to figure out what chelsea boots the detective lady wears in Vigil. That will be my nod to updating my outfit for this season.

@NeverDropYourMoonCup I think you'd enjoy the Ines de la Fressange stuff at Uniqlo - anything there that strikes your fancy? The styling for the website photos is always so utterly drab and colourless, but the pieces themselves are lovely and lots of natural fibres.

My office is smart casual but more on the casual side. I'm going to be wearing cord skirts with tights, boots and jumpers. I've got a few smock dresses which I wear with leggings and boots, I'm going to get some cardigans to go over those. I've also got some cord trousers from fat face which I'm saving till it's really cold.

Those recommendations are quite abstract! 😆 I think if I rolled up to work in that blue slip dress, the team would think I’ve come straight from a night out!

woodhill · 03/09/2021 18:27

I'm in a uniform some of the time so I have to change some of the time so easy separates work best, some button tops are so fiddly

Oh I like this stuff! I’ve never bought there - I’ve made an assumption that it’s for smaller / petite people. I’m 5 11 and no idea when or why I formulated that opinion though! What’s their fit like?

Whatliesbeneath707 · 04/09/2021 13:49

I’ve just had a fairly successful online clothes shop delivered. It was mainly blouses & a few dresses from M & S and Next. I’m pleased that they all fit & the fabric is ok on them - it seems such a gamble with fit and fabrics atm. Anyway, I have now realised that most of the tops have black in them but I don’t have any black trousers, so I’m back online searching again. I do miss the shops (Debenhams, Gap, Monsoon etc) and I do miss the choice of clothes that they used to have.
