Autumn dress

Vickles20 · 30/08/2021 23:46

I’m size 18, tall. I’m in desperate need of inspiration for autumn dresses. Fit and flare/just below the knee. Not a big fan of big, billowy, floral affairs, or belts. Any ideas oh wise ones.

I bought this for the autumn/winter. It’s very plain, but can, I think, be dressed up or down. It is extremely flattering on.

@AnnieSnap that looks really nice. Can I ask how tall you are and (if it's not too personal) are you large of boob?

AnnieSnap · 31/08/2021 00:30

Of course 🙂 I am 5’6”, a size 16/18 (I went for the 44 in this) and I am well endowed! Hope that helps. It was another MNer who put me on to this. She is a size 18 and loved it too.

amiasheep · 31/08/2021 00:51

Oh, I love that dress and my first thought too... Would it fit my boobs!

JollyHostess · 31/08/2021 01:15

Thank you so much @AnnieSnap
Might not work for me lengthwise as I'm very short but great to hear that it's good for bigger busts! Often the make or break factor!

NotMyCat · 31/08/2021 01:19

I'm 5ft 10, size 16/18 and got a lovely dress from here

https://www.laredoute.co.uk/pplp/100/111/175746/cat-1944.aspx#srt=noSorting

It's a bit higher neck than I would usually go doe but it fits my boobs (34K) AND waist so win win

Following with interest as I am looking for similar. I am a size 18' pear shaped. Smart enough for work on a reception desk but comfy enough for dog walking and being in the house

poppy2021 · 31/08/2021 16:20

Something like this but a bit longer www.roman.co.uk/floral-print-swing-dress-14133060

This is lovely (last season Me&Em) and fits my substantial chest - although it says 16 it is really loose. Its very elegant on and really useful (I have 2 so I don't have to worry if one is in the wash). The only thing I would say is if you buy it reinforce the centre back seam before wearing as both of them split......

Good choice @JustAnotherFuckingMonday 👍

Ddot · 01/09/2021 19:45

I like boden dresses, I pick ones that can be worn with tights and boots in winter and bare legged in summer. Just to add I'm short and bustless so maybe I shut up.

Vickles20 · 06/09/2021 21:52

Oh crikes. Forgot all about my post!! Sorry for delay everyone.

I wore this today and got lots of compliments fhwt.app.link/LyDkpbu9kjb

I had to go too sizes smaller than normal. It's a nice thick jersey and has pockets! Will layer with a blazer and opaque tights for work, chunky cardigan for casual

Vickles20 · 06/09/2021 22:11

That’s stories one is lovely. Not sure on the back though. I normally look on eBay for used Boden dresses. Not for me, but thought you might like this:-

I’ve got something very similar like this and it’s so slimming and lovely.

Both of these are by Lindex. They do have shorter styles if these are too long.

Ooh thank you. Never heard of Lindex. Great dresses at fab prices

Divebar2021 · 06/09/2021 22:49

They’re Scandinavian- I’ve only had a kimono top but I thought the quality was ok.

melonhead · 08/09/2021 17:28

Lands End jersey fit and flare dresses are lovely

Kaykay247 · 08/09/2021 20:33

Try Ooh Betty. The owner makes to order and dresses can be lengthened or shortened as required and you can choose material from range in stock. And change sleeves too I think. And do have a look at the Betty's bottoms while you're there. They are brilliant
