Looking for great, stylish ‘athleisure’ wear?

Realise that not everyone would describe it as ‘stylish’, but am thinking that it would actually work really well for my lifestyle/style/figure.

So...am looking for clothes that are made of ‘performance wear’, ie. stretchy, sweat-wicking and non-iron! I like the Sweaty Betty jumpsuits, but they’re so pricey (for me!). Some ideas would be great... search is to go with big wardrobe declutter and buying some simple, stylish, hard-working basics. TIA.

There's a brand called Dai that do suit type smart clothing 'but as comfy as your yoga wear'. I have not been able to afford it though and its probably not quite what you are aiming for.

Hi OP,

I wear a lot of athleisure as it suits me and my lifestyle. I took the plunge last year and invested in Swetty Betty leggings (the super sculpt and the power ones - the super sculpt are way better in terms of longevity and no piling when washed). They also "suck you in".

I think that having 2 pairs of fabulous leggings with a wide range of tops and jackets is better than 8 pairs of cheap ones. Well, it suited me. I hope this helps - I know it seems a lot to invest so you need to know what the end result is.

My friend also recommends Nike ones but I don't wear black so I could never get ones I liked.

I think Swetty Betty and Lululemon have mastered the athleisure look so that it goes from gym wear to coffee shop wear.

There is another brand in Ireland that is called Gym and Coffee Hmm - I refuse to buy due to the stupid name, but they might be worth a look.

I bought Gymshark for DD - but the SB are 100 times better in terms of not being see through!!!

Marks and Spencer have some lovely stuff, yoga pants etc. Also try Decathlon.

Please post any lovely finds!

Ooh I’m also interested in doing this, my lifestyle has changed recently and this would be practical for much of it. My plan is to go for good quality, luxe piece from proper sportswear brands that are also stylish. Basically creating a capsule wardrobe with a limited colour palette/prints so I can mix and match.
I’ve been looking at Lululemon, Free People Movement, Alo yoga, and Girlfriend Collective as well as sweaty betty and I’ve picked up a few new with tags pieces on Vinted.

Me too. If it was yoga and tea, then I might reconsider.

Sweaty Betty in the sale is my go to.

@MysweetAudrina Grin Grin

There is a hipster coffee shop near where my Dsis lives called Yoga and Coffee!!!! (really, it is already located in hipster central, but they still want to send out a siren call just in case).

I echo SB in the sales - that is when I buy mine.

I've worn these for a few years now and won't wear anything else. The quality is amazing and I love the designs. Ive lived in them over the last 18 months.

Thanks so much for the fab suggestions. So...for anyone interested, I’ve bought a couple of basic tops from Decathalon (bargain prices!) and a lovely selection of things from Uniqlo. I’m going to keep an eye on Sweaty Betty, Lululemon, etc. sales and will check out the other places listed. Thanks again!

P.S. Weirdly, I already feel ‘lighter’ with my purchases - huge wardrobe declutter coming up!!
