Reiss sizing

I've found a lovely Reiss coat on Vinted in an M - according to their size chart and my measurements I'm the top end of an M... I'm bigger on the top half than the bottom if that's relevant as its a coat. Very roughly a UK 12 - but can be a 10 in trousers, can be a 14 in tops/ dresses, obviously it totally depends on brand etc.

Obviously I can't send a Vinted item back. How does Reiss sizing come up? Worth a try?

I'm doubly confused as although I have a lot of clothing from the UK I'm actually in the EU and Reiss size charts list a uk size 12 as a German 38, when my experience is definitely that UK size 12s are more likely to be the equivalent to the EU size 40 clothes I have, and in fact some UK 10s are bigger than some EU size 40s... so I don't know what to make of the size chart!

Reiss M - generous or small? Especially on the chest?

Following as I was eyeing something up the other day.

I'm not sure about sizes but Reiss is those who are longer in the body.

BeaBeaBuzz · 30/08/2021 12:43

I always find reiss on the small side

IkaBaar · 30/08/2021 12:45

I find Reiss on the small side.

Ok thanks, I think I'll sadly pass on the coat then as I'd want to be able to wear a jumper under a winter coat. I don't think I'm unusually long in the body, just ordinary (32 inch leg jeans, 5 ft 6) but for a coat that wouldn't be that relevant - or would it?

Definitely on the small side. Zara too. Unlike FCUK which I love due to their generous sizing 🤣

Could you ask for measurements and compare with a coat that you already have? I find that a more reliable guide than online store guides, which never seem to bear much relationship to the actual fit for me.

In general I would say Reiss don't do vanity sizing as much as some other brands do, so they are not tiny but not generous either. What people sometimes call "a true size 10" or whatever.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 30/08/2021 14:55

I think they are true to size, but very long (I'm 5ft 3).

AnaViaSalamanca · 30/08/2021 15:37

Agree they don’t do vanity sizing so depends what your frame of reference is for a 10 say.

However they are a British brand so not as small as french ones

JoanDarc · 30/08/2021 15:38

I buy a lot from Reiss and have found their sizing more generous in recent years. I’m between two sizes and definitely buying the smaller size more compared to previous years. Also they confusingly go between numerical and s/m/l for sizing so I quite often buy two of each item to compare.

Can you get to Reiss to try on other styles of coats for size?

Martinisarebetterdirty · 30/08/2021 15:45

I have a few Reiss coats, if you’re a 12 you’ll fit the medium with room for a jumper (maybe not a huge sloppy one) underneath.

Agree with this

I work for Reiss - if you get me the product name I will ask our product team for sizing info.

Yoyooo · 30/08/2021 18:28

But FWIT I am a 10-12 on top and would get a Medium normally in Reiss. Size 12 for tops for sure.

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 01/09/2021 12:46

Yoyooo thanks - I'm quite broad shouldered and a 32 Ff so I'd never be a genuine 10 on top, although I can on the bottom half - I think the medium in a coat would be on the small size especially with a jumper so have decided to look at other options - no hurry, I have coats, I just fancy a wool coat for winter as well as the incredibly practical, warm but neon colour snowboarding jacket which is what I have for proper winter - there's time to keep an eye out for the right thing at the right price, and I think the right thing from Reiss might be an L for a coat.

I can't get to a shop selling Reiss unfortunately, or I'd just go and try new ones on but buy second hand BlushGrin

Unless it has changed recently but Reiss sizing is HUGE. I would fit into a 4 in reiss and while I am slim I am not super tiny
