Buying jumpers online that don’t inch

Sweetpea1989 · 29/08/2021 21:13

What do I look for? I haven’t got time to wander around the shops and fondle each garment.

I hate the feeling of itchy wool but don’t have a huge budget. Probably no more that £80 a jumper.

I haven’t had cashmere before is it super high maintenance?

In my early 30’s trying to be stylish, french connection is one of my fave go to’s.

Cashmere and merino seem to be fine on me. I have psoriasis and am allergic to wool.
Check out Woolovers.

I think cashmere is definitely softest. If you’re open to second hand you can get gorgeous cashmere for your budget second hand. I’ve got cashmere/cashmere blends new with tags from Depop, EBay etc - from brands like Brora, Pringle and so on. It’s easier to search for specific brands in my experience so worth looking online at knitwear brands and finding some you like if you want to go down this route. Or there’s dedicated cashmere second hand sites like
www.nearlynewcashmere.co.uk/
softtouchcashmere.co.uk/
They mostly have basics and plain colours so depends what you’re looking for.

Cashmere, merino or alpaca. I knit my own jumpers and those are the fibres that I don't find itchy

I know from bitter experience that anything with any % of wool in it will make me itch (including Merino), so have to make sure I avoid those when buying. Cashmere is fine though - clearly my skin has expensive taste!

Cotton and silk are the only ones guaranteed not to be scratchy, in my experience.

Yes, mine too.

So interesting, thanks. You get what you pay for I guess.

I do buy second hand I’d worry the jumpers would be out of shape though, I have been caught out before.
