Flat Bum

I'm in my 50s and have recently been trying to buy a dress to wear to a wedding. I don't tend to look at my reflection from behind but time in changing rooms in front of mirrors has made me realise my bum has gone south and now looks like a table top. Has anyone found any shaping underwear which helps with this? I've recently lost a stone and am realising some of it was from my butt! 😳 (I'm also aware I desperately to strengthen my glutes)

You can get underwear with bum pads in, all difference sizes.
Obviously yes, do glutes exercises, but in the meantime the pads will help.

I have a completely flat bum and it just looks ridiculous in lots of clothes. So I wear really subtle bum pads to give me a bit of shape.

@TwilightSkies - thank you so much, that's really useful! I don't mind usually because I can cover with baggy tops etc but it looks awful in a fitted dress. Are there any makes you'd recommend?

Following as I too have a flat bum.

Over 50 here as well but mines always been like it. I’ve started going to the gym , what exercises are good for flutes please?

Cherrydown · 29/08/2021 15:30

I do lots of squats and have managed to develop a more rounded bum! Sydney Cummings 30 min work out videos on YouTube are really good.

I have a really flat bum..no matter what exercise I do it just seems to go flatter rather than any bulk. would appreciate any suggesttions. sorry to highjack your thread.

I have a tendency to flat bum, I take after my mother and grandmother so it’s partly genetic.

It seems to look 10 times worse if I have any weight on my stomach, it just throws the proportions off completely. So I have to try to keep my waist in check. I say try Wine

I have the Jillian Michaels app and I do some of the workouts about 3 times a week. Need to up this to 5 times.

I am ok in fitted things but baggy things, or stuff like jumpsuits, look rubbish quite often. I don’t think I would have the energy for butt pads though. I am too old and set in my ways… and usually can’t see my own arse so manage to live in blissful ignorance most of the time.

GinJeanie · 29/08/2021 17:26

@Mamette 🤣😂 😆 I tend to agree! I was in blissful ignorance about my bum until the trying on session. It's been SO long since I tried on clothes in am actual shop and the changing room mirrors are very unforgiving.

Donkey kicks are a good exercise too

Bret Contreras is the king of all things glute.

It's a British thing, is having a flat bum. Liek eccentricity and a sense of humour

Stopping lying on the couch helps

GinJeanie · 29/08/2021 20:48

Ooh thanks for all the exercise ideas - they sound very exotic! 😂
@Susannahmoody - laughing at you saying it's a British thing 😆. Definitely also an age/gravity thing in my case...
