most people still wearing leggings here

Like a Sweaty Betty microcosm. Leggings and hoodies or leggings and technical stuff.
There's a few teens in wide denim and the occasional dress but leggings are the order of the day.

How's it where you are? Has the pandemic leisurewear/comfort thing worn off yet or are the people around you still opting for comfier styles?

Wore them in the garden today and for walking to and from the gym. Not as everyday wear no

stripedbananas · 28/08/2021 16:54

I do find I'm wearing my SB leggings quite a lot these days as casual wear. More than I ever used to.

They're just easy to chuck on esp as they're compression leggings and pretty much everyone I know has put on weight around their middle

stripedbananas · 28/08/2021 16:55

Also they're very washable and the material is long lasting

WeirdArchitecture · 28/08/2021 16:56

if I put weight on I think it is more noticeable in leggings, especially the knees and thighs. They are comfortable though, I just wish I could get out of the rut.

I don’t look at what others are wearing, but I’m in leggings and skinnies with T-shirt’s. Nothing to do with Covid, it’s what I wear.
Although it’s cropped leggings and skinnies for the summer 🤣

PurpleDaisies · 28/08/2021 16:58

I’m loving wearing leggings more. I’ve bought some really nice ones.

Debetswell · 28/08/2021 16:59

I ditched leggings, other than for the gym, when dd was 6 months old.
I knew it was the only way to sort my figure out.
Leggings make it too easy to hide your weight under imo.
When my jeans get tight I have to have a word with myself.

PilatesPeach · 28/08/2021 16:59

I teach fitness classes, yoga and pilates and also walk the dog 3 times a day - I pretty much live in fitness gear although always clean and generally a plain top and patterned bottoms. Live and let live. People should wear what they like.

BigGooseyLucy · 28/08/2021 17:00

Leggings are my life

FeatheredHope · 28/08/2021 17:00

What does it matter what other people wear?

AgathaX · 28/08/2021 17:03

Not a fan of leggings, apart from in the gym.

Salanda · 28/08/2021 17:06

Feels to me like everyone is back to dressing up a bit.
When I’ve been out in my area of London during the day I’ve been seeing a lot of summery dresses, jumpsuits etc and the last couple of days it’s been quite grey so jeans and tops/jumpers. Leggings still very much around but mostly on dog walkers etc. Although I live in an area that lots of people go to for day trips/we have quite a few tourists so a lot of the people around are out visiting/socially rather than locals running errands etc which probably changes the mix.
On the weekends I’ve been into central London it very much feels like a lot of people are enjoying dressing up. Seen a lot of young people very glammed up.

Alwaysonthehunt · 28/08/2021 19:04

Where are you buying your nice leggings?

I only have sports ones that are too tight after an hour and cheap M&S crap cotton ones. I need highish waist because I've got a big tum and they can't be see through!

PilatesPeach · 29/08/2021 09:31

@Alwaysonthehunt I get mine from llamaleisure.com/collections/leggings

Seesawmummadaw · 29/08/2021 09:45

Summer dresses/bikinis/wetsuits/farmers attire here.

Oh wow thanks for the link. Some of the patterns are amazing!! Haha I was thinking dark grey might be a bit jazzy...

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 29/08/2021 17:29

I get mine from Victoria's Secret - the really soft ones with pockets. I practically live on them. Have ventured out with a couple of summer dresses though, so not leisure wear all the time.

PurpleDaisies · 29/08/2021 17:31

What’s the sizing like for Victoria’s Secret? I’ve seen them online and liked the styles but not seen in real life.

PilatesPeach · 29/08/2021 17:32

@Alwaysonthehunt haha yes they are but some are lovely eg the peacock ones and the golden leopard and they are the most comfortable ones I have ever worn and not at all see through - I a yogaing and squatting in them all the time and nothing shows.
Try a pair whilst on sale!

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 29/08/2021 17:38

I am size 16 and the VS ones seem accurate to me. A sales assistant did clarify the size with me once because she said they are American sizing, so a 16 would be bigger than ours. But they seem fine to me unless my arse is bigger than I really want to admit to.

PurpleDaisies · 29/08/2021 17:43

Brilliant-thanks @MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously

That’s useful information

So are you saying you bought a size 16 U.K. or a size 16 US? Cos a 16 US is like a U.K. 20
1forAll74 · 29/08/2021 18:00

I wear leggings still. If its a bit chilly, and am not going anywhere special, I have some different thicknesses type leggings, I always wear some older leggings when gardening, for kneeling down planting stuff, or digging.

But for sunny days, I wear strappy summer dresses, just for wafting about. or for going for a walk down the lanes,

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 29/08/2021 18:46

The label says 16. So if it's a US size I have bought them too big. They are a bit loose on me but I prefer that. I also have a VS size 16 pair that aren't the super soft ones and not so stretchy. These are tighter on me, so I think their sizing has variation even within the brand.
If you like a really tight fit, I'd size down. If you like them looser, then if you were 16 in UK I'd buy label size 16 in VS.
You can get them online from places like Next and just return if not quite right, if you don't live near a VS

Ciderandskatesdontmix · 29/08/2021 19:03

@pilatespeach are they high waist? I have some from Lucy locket loves and although they claim to be high waist I don't find they are on me.
