Boring, everyday trainers, not lace up

TeenMinusTests · 27/08/2021 15:13

You guys are always so great when I'm desperate. Smile

DD needs some everyday trainers.
Adult Size 4.
Not laceup - elastic laces or velcro only.
Black, blue, purple, deep red. Not too zingy.
Need to be supportive and breathable. Not too heavy or chunky.

Price range up to ~£65?

These would be fine www.clarks.co.uk/c/Aeon-Pace-Youth/p/26151530 but not in stock in her size.

Getting very frustrated as so many web sites don't filter on fastening and have to wade through laceups. No idea where to look really.

Plus I hate shopping at the best of times, and now is not the best of times.

Any suggestions?

How old is she?

My dd has skechers that aren't lace up.

Slub · 27/08/2021 16:29

Sketchers

TeenMinusTests · 27/08/2021 16:51

She's nearly 17, about to start college but on a course that has overalls& steel capped boots for practical sessions. It won't be full of trendy well groomed people.

I think most sketchers just look so ugly , especially with the gigantic S on the side. But if they are considered 'OK' I'll look at them.

What about Toms?

Newnormal99 · 27/08/2021 19:20

I have just ordered my dd plain black Velcro trainers from marks. In the back to school section.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 27/08/2021 19:24

Could these work? They’re a junior model but go up to size 5

New Balance are v fashionable atm.

Newnormal99 · 27/08/2021 19:25

Try searching under riptape.

AnnaDyne · 27/08/2021 20:43

Well 17 year olds only wear Nike Air Force.

TeenMinusTests · 28/08/2021 09:44

Anna They're lace up though? (And I refuse to believe that every y12/y13 are wearing the same shoes).

Yeknom I'd never heard of Toms. Had a look, couldn't see any actual trainers.

Newnormal I'll check them out.

Terrible I'll show her those too.

We need no lace ups for speed / motor skills issues.
I'd rather 'non descript' brand than something obviously 'wrong'.

Thank you all.

If trendy names don't matter then I suggest these.

www.shoezone.com/Products/Lilley-Women-Black-White-Sporty-Shoe-125012

I have a pair. They are very comfortable and supportive. I use them for bike riding (after I had a near accident when my laces got caught in the wheel Shock). They come in a range of other colours too. Plain black is definitely available.

PeonyTime · 28/08/2021 10:02

You might have more luck getting a pair of laces trainers, and buying the elastic laces separately- Amazon has a variety of styles and brands.

Notonthestairs · 28/08/2021 10:12

M&S do £35 black slip on trainers in women's wear.

TeenMinusTests · 28/08/2021 10:13

Peony Thank you I hadn't thought of that. It would certainly give much more scope.

Lindy Will check them out. (Maybe not fair, I had discounted ShoeZone as too cheap - ie likely to be unsupportive, fall apart etc).

Cocolapew · 28/08/2021 10:15

Have a look in River Island, they usually have slip ons.

Notonthestairs · 28/08/2021 10:16

Try Zubits magnetic laces (Amazon) - they don't stretch as much as the elastic ones so fit better.

Picture of M&S slip on sketchers rip off essentially.

AllTheSingleLadiess · 28/08/2021 10:17

Buy lace ups, remove the laces and replace with elastic laces ? They are available online

Randomdogbite · 28/08/2021 10:19

You can buy Adidas nemeziz that are pull on, I’ve just bought some in a size 4, they look cool and loads of styles

TeenMinusTests · 28/08/2021 10:21

Thank you all so much.

This is all exacerbated by DD not being up to going to actual physical shops right now (except maybe in our tiny town which has one £££ shoe shop and none suitable anyway).

I buy fairly ordinary trainers and then buy separate elastic laces for DS as he has dyspraxia and really struggles with tying laces.
