Image change - classic but stylish?

Had a read of ‘How To Break Up With Fast Fashion’ and realised that I reflect a lot of the characteristics of the author: think I’m dressing ethically by buying vintage, but then want ALL the vintage; have too many clothes and feel a bit overwhelmed by them; and this aligns with being in my mid-30s and being attracted to a simpler, more refined aesthetic, and a new career, also!

I have, in recent years, picked up a few much more basic pieces to wear with my vintage stuff, but if I wear those basics together, in a much more classic way, it seems to age me/I look dated.

So...I’m looking for inspiration! I want to create a good-sized capsule wardrobe - please give me some ideas as to how to look classic but still stylish? And some rules? And perhaps some ideas for a new style? Happy to give more information if that’s helpful. TIA! 😊

I'd go for a more modern hairstyle and accessories to give you a younger look.

Thanks @CommanderBurnham - would love some pics or links to modern hairstyles/accessories. 😀

What's your current hairstyle?

And day to day activities/ lifestyle?

Do you have a celebrity style in mind that like you?

Hi @turnshavetabled, sorry for my delay in replying - hair is a middle-parted, blunt cut, neck length bob (growing it!), and lifestyle = small children, along with smart-casual style (currently Zoom) work. If it’s useful, I am sporty but like to look smart, and like a outfits to have a feminine twist of some kind.

Could you pick out your 20 favourite items and photograph a series of outfits like this. Print it out, stick it inside your wardrobe.

I fin Emma Hill is good inspiration for classic but stylish looks. She wears v expensive stuff but you can definitely get cheaper alternatives. She gives good advice on her rules on her Youtube channel and my style has definitely improved since I've followed some of her advice.
