What to wear on top for graduation

Next week! It's my third one so I should know by now. Yet another post grad diploma.
It's sort of crept up on me after being cancelled last year.

I'm wearing dark blue wide leg palazzo trousers with my super smart bright dms but I'm stuck for a top. Needs a button ideally for my hood. I'm a size 22 (eek) as well. And I can't bear being tucked in.

Budget is under £100 and I need to have it by next Friday. Off to Bicester thus weekend but not a lot of plus size there, but I need a small smart shoulder or cross body bag to tuck under the gown, as DH and ds will be up in the gods and unable to look after it.

Any ideas welcome 🙏

I always think a white top really shows off the gown and hood best. A blouse with buttons?

Top tip - if you don't have a button take a safety pin for the hood!

Also, you want something either quite fitted/structured, or that you can tuck into your trousers, as if not the hood will ruck it up/back around your neck and it can all get a bit strangley Grin

Yes, take safety pins - I wear gowns every year for my students’ graduations. In the last few years many seem to have changed so that the hood is fixed to the gown with Velcro, but before that I used to safety pin the loop at the end of the hood down the front of my top (v neck) to my bra. Worked really well, looked neat, and stopped the hood pulling up/ back on buttons so that you had to keep pulling shirt down.
So take safety pins and perhaps choose something cool or sleeveless as I find it’s always hot under gowns.

Good luck finding your top and congratulations on your diploma 😊

Just ordered this

And this one

Thought the river island one might allow for more ventilation 😂
