How often do you buy clothes?

I am always clothes shopping
Often charity shop, eBay or outlet
I then eBay things I get bored with or impulse buys which end up being a mistake
Some of my friends are surprised by how much I buy
For example in last 2 weeks I have bought new trainers, jeggings, pointed flat shoes, 4 dresses, a scarf, Aran sweater and a cardigan
I’ve spent around £150
During same period of time I’ve sold a few things on eBay for around £85

I've recently cut back but previously couldn't go past a charity shop without nipping in.

This past year, most of my shopping has been online only, so I only buy something under the following circumstances:

  • previous item split/torn/fell apart
  • previous items too tight (have put on weight since lockdown!)
  • previous bra loose and no longer supportive
  • trainers have worn or now hurt feet due to wear
  • need an new outfit for work/wedding/party

4 or 5 items per season. Coats and shoes much less often more like once every other year. I don't buy bags at all.

As a tight ex northerner I buy clothes when my current batch are too worn and faded to be worn in public.

I’ve bought 21 things this year and I probably didn’t need half of them. Though some were for my new fatter lockdown body. All eBay. Trying to be really strict from now on as I’ve no excuses left.

Wearing leggings with holes in at the moment, I'd swap to another pair but these are the least holey. They're my posh ones I guess!

I tend to have a month or two where I buy a lot, and then I won't buy anything for a few months. I bought quite a bit in the January sales, and then didn't buy anything at all between Feb and May. Then, after lockdown, not much of my summer stuff fitted so I bought 4 dresses, 4 pairs of trousers, 4 t-shirts, and a pair of shorts. Also bought 3 bags and a couple of pairs of shoes, but prior to that I hadn't bought a bag in several years.

In the next few months I'd like to buy a couple of jumpers, a dress, a pair of jeans, and possibly a coat for winter. Then that'll be me done for the year.

I had planned to try to buy little or no clothing this year, but it didn't work out that way due to lockdown weight gain.

I browse online a lot and if I see something I like I buy it. I always buy new, but I don't go very high end.

lannistunut · 23/08/2021 22:49

In the last year I've bought a dress, a skirt, two tops and some pyjamas.

I need some new trainers really.

Hmm, since lockdown :

1 pair clogs
1 black winter dress
1 black swing coat - sale
1 raincoat
2 summer work dresses
1 pr navy shoes
1 pr white jeans
1 navy t shirt
1 lightweight dressing gown and matching nightie.
1 simple slate shift dress
1 handbag

Usually I might buy a bit of evening wear but not since covid.

Maybe once every 3-4 months?
One item at a time generally.

This said, I've had a bit of a session recently, might be the end of lockdown + the fact that I'm back to my natural hair colour after years of bleaching it, I've bought 3 jumpers, a boyfriend blazer, and a beret.
I'm done until 2022 now.
