Skincare Recommendations For Dry, Acne Prone Skin?

I am at my wits end with my skin right now! I don’t think it has ever been as bad as it is currently. I have lots of small, white, closed comedones all over my cheeks and chin, so the texture of my face just looks absolutely shocking!

I have tried the following skincare brands over the past 15 months (and spent an absolute bloody fortune!), most of which made no improvement whatsoever or just made my skin worse!

Face Theory (no improvement, I really persevered with lots of their products)
CeraVe (made my skin a 1000 times worse!)
Inkey List (did nothing)
The Ordinary (made my skin worse!)
Paula’s Choice (did absolutely nothing)
La Roche Posay (too drying, made my skin peel)

Niacinamide seems to makes my skin worse and hyaluronic acid isn’t hydrating enough! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’ve tried lots of actives like lactic acid, azelaic acid, BHA 2% exfoliating liquid etc. (not at the same time!) and none of them have remotely improved my awful skin texture. I’m thinking of trying the ‘Versed’ range of skincare next but I ‘m so sick of spending money on products that just don’t work on my skin! 😫

I will be asking my dermatologists advice when I see her soon, but in the meantime, can anyone recommend products that actually worked for their acne prone skin that didn’t dry it out?

I have dry and spotty skin. I find washing with simple soap and toning with witch hazel lotion, plus witch hazel moisturiser helps. I use clean and clear products on spots.

I use The Ordinary and masks occasionally, but too often seems to encourage more sebum production.
