Recommend me your plain night moisturiser

Hi, with autumn in the offing I normally add a thicker moisturiser into my night time regime, Avene Extreme Tolerance cream, to follow my retinoid. I’ve never loved this product but it does tick my boxes of being simple, emollient, fragrance free and about £14. Are there any other options out there?

Lidl moisturisers are surprisingly good.

lobsterkiller · 22/08/2021 09:24

I use blue Nivea, after my tretinoin. Seems to be ok.

Bagelsandbrie · 22/08/2021 09:26

Nivea regenerating night cream - not the proper thick original blue one but the next step up. It’s about £2-3 depending on offers.

Avene do a very nice mask which I sometimes use as an overnight treatment
Soothing Radiance Mask I think it is

I use Nivea Soft, but it isn't fragrance free. Very cheap though. I don't think paying a lot for moisturisers is a good investment for me. I spend more on things like exfoliants, cleansers and make up.

I have just started using the La Roche Posay Toleraine Night cream. So far it seems to be exactly what I needed.

I use a weak retinol (Skin + Me) and was finding the dryness a bit much but I'm all sorted after a couple of nights with this.

I always end up going back to the Superdrug vitamin E one
www.superdrug.com/Skin/Face-Skin-Care/Face-Cream/Superdrug-Vitamin-E-Intense-Moisture-Cream-100ml/p/282703
They have buy 1 get 1 half price so I stock up on these and the eye cream.

Girlintheframe · 22/08/2021 09:59

Cetreban or diprobase. Cheap as chips from the chemist. Great for all over including face. Fragrance free. Absorbs well. Good under make up.

ginnytrap · 22/08/2021 10:15

I use Nivea q10 power works really well for my skin type.

OiPanda · 22/08/2021 10:36

Vichy Aqualia Thermal. I used to use the Avene one but went off the texture.

OiPanda · 22/08/2021 10:36

Or a big bottle of cetaphil moisturiser lasts ages and is really good for sensitive skin.

PerpetualStudent · 22/08/2021 10:50

I use the fragrance-free version of Beauty Kitchen’s body lotion beautykitchen.co.uk/collections/body-cream/products/ts-vegan-body-cream?variant=28515385016400 really simple list of ingredients and perfect for being nourishing without greasy/heavy. Also because it doesn’t haven mineral oil or silicones it’s really easy to layer with facial oils on top - I add rosehip oil, either to the lotion itself and mix in, or after where I want extra juice

I've just bought the hydrating face mask and thought it was good. Might try that as well Smile

REN V-cence nighttime moisturiser is my repeat purchase. Skin feels lovely in the morning.

Fferny1 · 22/08/2021 11:01

A big pot of Cerave cream.

TableNiner · 22/08/2021 12:48

Thank you, some great suggestions here! I have very oily skin so some might be a bit much but I like LRP, Cetaphil, and Cerave. Never heard of Cetraben which looks very interesting. Definitely agree spending a lot on a moisturiser is a waste of money.

Rosehip oil for the win!

Jerseygirl12 · 22/08/2021 17:32

I like Nivea Q10 night cream.

Jerseygirl12 · 22/08/2021 17:33

I buy it when it’s on offer so it works out about £5 a pot.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 22/08/2021 17:34

Cerave
Body Shop Aloe
Body Shop Vit E
Eucerin

DelphiniumBlue · 22/08/2021 17:35

Aldi. Thicker than Nivea Q10 nightcream, and way cheaper.

karalime · 22/08/2021 17:42

I've gone through most of the LRP and Avene moisturisers since being on Tret and then Accutane, found them decent but very overpriced.

I have used the Avene Extreme Tolerance Cleanser as a moisturiser - the ingredients are the same as the lotion and you get 200ml instead of 50ml for the same price.

Cerave made me break out even when on accutane.

Currently using Simple Light moisturiser. Does the job and is £3

Jerseygirl12 · 22/08/2021 17:55

Is thicker better though?

IcedPurple · 22/08/2021 18:28

@Fferny1

A big pot of Cerave cream.
Snap!

What more do you really need?
