I have a wedding to attend in November and I’m struggling with what to wear. Over the past few years due to depression I have ballooned to a size 26 and I’m really struggling. I have found a dress that I like but am unsure if it dressy enough or if it will suit me.

I’m 5ft 5 and carry all my weight on my stomach.

Is this wedding appropriate? Also do the shoes go with it? I can’t wear heels unless the are a low block heel.

That's really lovely. Depending on how low the front is, you might want something underneath or to pin the front to stop too much cleavage. But it's definitely fine for a wedding. Your feet might be a bit cold in those sandals in November, though.

Definitely wedding appropriate, it’s very nice! I love both the style and the colour. Hope you have lots of fun!

Looks good to me 😊

That dress colour is beautiful OP!

BeaBeaBuzz · 22/08/2021 07:42

Lovely! You may want a cami under as looks quite low but with some nice jewellery etc that'll be perfect

Zarene · 22/08/2021 08:17

Lovely dress!

If it's in a church you'll need something to cover your cleavage, and I agree with PP that those shoes will give you chilly toes in November!

I think that's a nice outfit for a summer wedding but not for November.

BeaBeaBuzz · 22/08/2021 09:23

Ah I missed the November bit, sorry OP you definitely need to rethink shoes

UniKittie · 22/08/2021 09:24

Thank you for the replies. I’m not too worried about being cold as the wedding is in the same venue all day and I will be getting a taxi from door to door.

What alternatives for shoes would people suggest?

@tigerbreadandtea is it the colour that makes it summary or is the whole outfit style?

@UniKittie I think the shoes in particular and the colour. For a winter wedding I'd go for jewel colours and closed shoes.

tigerbreadandtea · 22/08/2021 10:03

Perhaps navy accessories instead?

Pinkcadillac · 22/08/2021 10:11

For a November wedding I'd go for darker closed toe shoes. Maroon or cherry red would work very well

UniKittie · 22/08/2021 10:16

Would this be more suitable for a winter wedding?

That last dress is lovely. Better suited to November.

UniKittie · 22/08/2021 18:21

Thank you for the replies and ideas.

I just realised I forgot to add my age in, I’m 30.

Also if it makes a difference, it’s my mum’s wedding.
