Help for a quick fix to freshen up my old haggard face!

I look rubbish right now. It's a combination of poor sleep due to work stress, not drinking enough (hardly any) water, and having a few "big" nights out as a rubbish unhealthy way to try and relieve said stress. I'm a mess!
I've got a party coming up in a few weeks where I'm seeing lots of people I haven't seen for ages. So I need to get a little bit of freshness back (and also a better long term routine of managing stress health and skincare obviously). Should i have a facial? Anything I can put on overnight? Help!

(And I've got dry skin with a slightly oily nose...)

Dermalogica facial. I look ten years younger after mine 😁

Maxiedog123 · 21/08/2021 13:29

Eyebrow shaping, eyebrow and lash tinting.

millenialblush · 21/08/2021 13:36

Sleep, water, vitamins, Garnier hydrating tissue masks, nip fab tanning drops, eyebrows shape and tint

keiratwiceknightly · 21/08/2021 13:38

Hyuralonic acid. Miracle worker.

Soozikinzi · 21/08/2021 13:39

I've had hifu treatments and they're really good to smooth the skin . Might be worth a try they're often on offer groupon or wowcher as well.

robotcollision · 21/08/2021 13:42

My list is almost identical to @millenialblush's list:

Drink loads of water and a good vitamin boost juice eg carrot ginger and orange.
Tanning drops
eyebrow thread or wax and light tint. Don't go too dark unless you already have dark skin.
Garnier hydrating tissue mask
Nivea Q10 day cream Lots of it. Feed your skin with it until it can take no more.

I used all of these before my dad's funeral last week as I looked grey and my skin was crepey. All helped.

travailtotravel · 21/08/2021 13:43

Lots of water, reduce sugar and carbs. Can you not drink during the week if its only a coup,e of weeks? Vitamin c face cream. Also if I eat a lot of citrus my skin just glows - vit pills take a while to kick in. Overnight moisture mask - even something as basic as a super thick layer of blue Nivea works wonders to plump up

millenialblush · 21/08/2021 13:56

@robotcollision Garnier masks - the £3 miracle product Grin

mrssmiling · 21/08/2021 16:56

Some great advice already - Neal’s Yard Frankincense moisturiser and Dr Hauschka’s Rose Day cream are also excellent skin boosters. Clarins Beauty Flash Balm would be a good buy too - it’s brilliant for tired skin.
You can use it under makeup, or apply as a face mask.

Ruthietuthie · 21/08/2021 18:46

Along with the recommendations above, I would cut out diary and sugar (this makes an immediate difference to my face) and see a dermatologist for a Lutronic genius radio frequency micro-needling facial. The results are incredible - improvement in tone, sagging, wrinkles.

I use decleor 3 min face exfoliator, then I put on decleor leave on hydrating mask. I put primer and make up on over this. It makes me look much fresher and plumps out wrinkles.

I have also noticed that if you want to look fresh, it is better to use a make up to match your skin and then a bronzer on your cheeks. This is great for freshening up particularly if you have very pale skin. It looks much better than make up in a slightly tanned shade.

jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey · 21/08/2021 22:57

Face massage
Water
Sleep

Manzanilla55 · 22/08/2021 08:19

Elemis plumping facial put on overnight.

Bluebellsinparadise · 22/08/2021 08:29

Cut out sugar

Edmontine · 22/08/2021 08:41

Veg box. With extra avocados as they really perk up your face. (And if you’re eating lots of processed food, you’re your own enemy.)

Sleep. (Do what you can to deal with the stressful work thing.)

Cut out alcohol. (Even if only temporarily.)

Only then will lotions and potions have the space to do their thing.

myhumps123 · 22/08/2021 08:46

Get your eyebrows sorted (threaded and tinted)
Hair done at the hair dressers makes a massive difference
If your wearing makeup, dewy, light and fresh.
Cut out carbs and sugar
I find choosing the right coloured clothes can sometimes make face less haggard.
Get a facial. Makes the skin brighter and fresher.

@robotcollision
Sorry to hear about your loss .

Be kind to yourself , good advice about skincare from you. Spend time on yourself if you can 💐

I love Holika Holika green tea sheet masks for reviving a tired face. Inkey List’s hylaronic acid and collagen booster do wonders for me too, along with a gradual tanner. Definitely blitz the sugars/booze as much as you can over the next couple of weeks too.

PerpetualStudent · 22/08/2021 09:02

Oh, and facial massage with a gua sha or (gently) with an ice cube of green tea - Lisa Eldridge has a great YouTube video about this

FrancescaContini · 22/08/2021 09:06

Give up alcohol completely for a while
As much sleep as possible
Lots of fruit and vegetables

MoltonSilver · 22/08/2021 09:21

Do one of these

Then follow the test of the advice above.
