Work capsule wardrobe

Hi
I am back to the office soon and really need to buy a whole new wardrobe. I have been out of the office 18 months, was on maternity leave before that and in maternity clothing beforehand. I am looking at getting a capsule wardrobe if pos. Any tips on what I should get?

My office is corporate/relaxed. What I mean by that is we are smart most days but casual on others. They are also trying to change the culture for office and using a dress for your day approach. No faded jeans, shorts, t shirts. But this isn't 100 per cent agreed yet. So I am little confused what to buy. Previously I would wear skater, wrap, shift or shirt dresses above the knee. Going back three days a week.

I am 33, 5ft 2, size 14 (mum belly) don't wear heels so plan to wear smart loafers. Would like quality clothing rather than primark but also planning to have another baby in the next year so don't want to spend excessively.

I spend a lot of time thinking about and planning the perfect capsule wardrobe but never seem to get there!!

If it helps with inspiration, Pinterest has bucket loads of capsule ideas and info graphics, it's worth a browse for ideas.

It's often said on here but I'd give a big department store (I like the JL one) personal shopper a go for some ideas. They don't tend to be pushy at all and you tell them a budget to work to. They do know their stuff and have come up with fab outfits for me, I'm mid 30s too.

Maybe starting with two bottom separates and a couple of interchangeable tops and then you can build more pieces once they have helped you make a plan.

How formal is your office?

I’ve got some great new tweed (Chanel dupes) jackets from eBay - LK Bennet, m&s, mango - 3 different cuts of trousers from boden and then spent a bit more on silk tops and blouses that I can also wear outside work. You can wear the tops tucked in or out and different trousers silhouettes keep it interesting. Add the tweedy jackets with some jewellery and you’re good for any eventuality!
