Cargo trousers-what shoes?

Happychappynurse · 20/08/2021 17:26

So I’m looking for a change from the usual jeans this autumn/winter and have just bought these cargo trousers. Just wondering what shoes would be best to wear as obviously sandals won’t be any good in the colder/wetter months. Any suggestions appreciated Smile

I've a similar pair and I've gone for white trainers - stan smiths

Nobloat21 · 20/08/2021 17:32

It can only be trainers I think.

TenThousandSpoons · 20/08/2021 17:37

White trainers

Coogee · 20/08/2021 17:52

Trainers.

WhoEatsPopTarts · 20/08/2021 17:54

Dm boots would look much cooler than white trainers.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 20/08/2021 17:54

Black and white Vans for me.

TheFormidableMrsC · 20/08/2021 18:00

Another for white trainers

MapleMay11 · 20/08/2021 23:29

Combat boots

SarahBellam · 21/08/2021 08:06

Definitely docs.

Xiaoxiong · 21/08/2021 08:08

I'm toying with some of those ankle boots with the chunky sole and I bet they would look ok:

Any trainers or Docs. Living rurally, white trainers wouldn't stay white for long Grin

I mean, in the 90s when they were last in I wore Acupuncture shoes (can't bear to call them trainers as they were so heavy I could barely walk in them let alone run) - anyone remember those?

I very occasionally land on this board in an effort to make my wardrobe more interesting in winter, but this is exactly my problem. I regard it as complete win if I can find an outfit that, with wellies, can do the dawn dog-walk in the woods and, with nice leather boots, get me in to work.

Sorry, off topic. Do like those trousers, though. But not sure they work with wellies.

RampantIvy · 21/08/2021 08:26

I like those trousers as well.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/08/2021 08:27

Black bovver boots, although I do feel a bit like the murderer in American Beauty when I wear this combo.
Or white trainers.
Or Converse.

Tanfastic · 21/08/2021 08:34

I have a few pairs of this style of trouser and I wear similar to what the model is wearing, sandals, Birkenstock etc. Occasionally Converse. I don't think anything else looks right.

Tanfastic · 21/08/2021 08:35

Sorry just read you are thinking for winter...doh!

Trainers really. I can't see anything ekes looking ok.

supernooodle · 21/08/2021 08:36

I heard a certain someone wore flip flops and army pants so everyone should wear flip flops and army pants

LavendulaAngustifolia · 21/08/2021 09:22

@Xiaoxiong I would have suggested something like those too. Maybe adidas shelltops or buffalo's but these aren't the baggy lo rise cargo pants that I remember. I think they're a more modern cargo jogger version.

Purplecatshopaholic · 21/08/2021 09:28

I have a similar pair - love em. High tops, or DMs for me

Salanda · 21/08/2021 09:29

I would go for chunky boots too!

Xiaoxiong · 21/08/2021 10:03

@LavendulaAngustifolia oh man - you remind me that my cargo pants used to show off the back of my thong, puddle around my ankles, and the backs of the leg would wear off a fetching little crescent where I would tread on them with my platform sandals or said Acupuncture shoes.

Is it even 90s/00s fashion if you aren't wet to the knee when it rains because your jeans are too long and drag in puddles??

Kids today. They don't even know they're born Grin

LivingDeadGirlUK · 21/08/2021 11:59

I used to cut the back hem off my baggy cargo trousers so they would not drag, but still sat nicely over my DC's lol.
