Does this dress need a necklace?

I have a wedding next week, I've stressed over the dress, not really finding the one! Anyway it's too late to look for anything else now as we go away for it on Monday.
I have settled in this dress, with blush pink sandles and bag and a navy headband fascinator. Does it need a necklace do you think?

In that case if the dress is also blue go for it, have a great day.

mistermagpie · 20/08/2021 12:08

I'm not a fan of necklaces in general and I don't think the dress needs it.

MrsCremuel · 20/08/2021 12:11

No necklace as the neckline should be the focus but statement earrings would look lovely.

nzeire · 20/08/2021 12:14

Fab dress!
I’d go hair loose waves and down, some lovely big earrings and no headress!

OnebusyMum · 20/08/2021 12:19

Thanks everyone, I'll take everything with me and decide on the day (in a panic probably)!
I only have chin length hair so, not much I can do with it unfortunately.
@Cleverpolly3 thanks, I've seen pictures of women in the dress with fascinators and they look really good, I'll see how I feel on the day.

On another point do men match the colour of the tie to their partners dress?
Not if it is black at a wedding.

OnebusyMum · 20/08/2021 12:35

@MauveMagnolia it's navy blue, the picture doesn't show it very well

I love the fascinator and the dress - I think I would try and add some colour via a great matching bag and shoes - delicate earrings?

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 20/08/2021 17:58

Great dress.

I would also ditch the fascinator in favour of a seriously good blow dry. If you can wear your heat behind your ears, I’d go for fabulous earrings - probably simple long drop ‘diamonds’ or similar.

If you wear your hair over your ears, I wonder if earrings, hair and neckline are a bit too much. I’d go against the grain and wear a simple floating ‘diamond’ to sit either the hollow by the collarbone (if big boobed) or just above the hint of cleavage (if smaller boobed).

Great dress. The fascinator kills it because it’s fussy and the wrong shade of blue.

The question was about a necklace. The rest of the outfit is already decided.

Crunched · 20/08/2021 22:10

I think fascinators get a bad press because they are out of our comfort zone. They are for me anyway!
If you can wear one with confidence OnebusyMum it will look fabulous.

Love that dress. You will look fab op. I would not wear a necklace with it, I would go statement earrings and bracelet (and defo no headwear for me). If wearing a fascinator, I would go with smaller earrings. Have a great time and just relax and enjoy

ShrikeAttack · 21/08/2021 11:11

That's not a fascinator @Crunched, that's a hat!

I wouldn't wear the fascinator OP, it will detract from the beautiful neckline of that dress. Sometimes less is more!

StCharlotte · 21/08/2021 12:44

If you want to wear the fascinator wear it. It will look amazing. I think a hat or fascinator finishes off a wedding outfit beautifully and I always wear one. Maybe if I had long hair I'd have an updo but you can bet there'd be at least a flower in it.

Just because there are many fascinator-haters, it doesn't mean they're right. Or wrong. It's just personal opinion. I do wonder if they've been hurt by a fascinator in the past Grin

I swear it's a peculiarly MN thing and actually it's pretty unkind to burst someone else's bubble when they're excited about an outfit.

Wear your fascinator with pride OP and have a lovely day Smile

You like the fascinator, so wear it. I agree with the poster who said a silver chain with a single small stone, not too long.

Don't match do's tie to your dress - that, to me, seems so much more naff than a fascinator.
