Vinted bargains

Anybody else addicted? I'm a recent convert to Vinted as a buyer - I have a wedding coming up and couldn't find any bright bags or shoes in the shops. I've found exactly what I'm looking for and so much cheaper. I really want to start buying less and trying to buy second hand where possible. I always used to buy and sell on eBay but I think Vinted is much easier to use and I don't miss the bidding wars. If you like something you can make a sensible offer and see if it's accepted.
I think I'm going to try my hand at selling too.

@tigerbreadandtea Yes!! I got a lovely pair of dungarees for £3 and now I'm constantly looking for clothes on there 😁

ShinyHappySummers · 19/08/2021 09:10

I've sold some stuff on there recently. Much easier than ebay!

BodgertheJogger · 19/08/2021 09:29

Yep, got loads of good stuff.
I've just bought a Gant new condition lambswool jumper for £5

ThatIsQuiteACrane · 19/08/2021 09:31

I just looked on this for the first time yesterday as I've not been able to find the right thing on eBay. It seemed quite good although the search/layout out on my phone was atrocious and put me off. Is there an app? That might be better.

I might give it a go for selling stuff, I've had a few bad experiences with eBay lately and I'm getting fed up

Haven't bought anything just yet since I've just finished decluttering our wardrobes.

I sold my first item on Sunday and sent it on Monday, through Hermes. Apart from "We got it", it's not moved since. Should I be worried?

tigerbreadandtea · 19/08/2021 09:59

@ThatIsQuiteACrane I have the app on my iPad and find it very user friendly.

I'll try the app, thanks. I was finding the page didn't load properly on my mobile so when I tried to select filters it kept selecting and de-selecting random things and then bringing back no results.

tigerbreadandtea · 19/08/2021 15:58

@xsquared I haven't sold anything yet so can't advise sorry!

I bought a lovely Belstaff jacket for the £30 (a huge discount).
It’s as new & I get lots of compliments when I wear it
Love Vinted !

tigerbreadandtea · 19/08/2021 19:50

I've bought some shoes this evening too.

I have also just started buying in Vinted for a wedding outfit. I found the perfect hat to match my dress. I also found some Jimmy choo shoes and separately a matching bag. All were bargains. I have been spending too much recently so trying to not be tented for a while but I still browse. Might try selling some stuff on after the wedding.

tigerbreadandtea · 19/08/2021 22:25

@Mumski45 that's great! I am chuffed with my shoes - I have looked everywhere for them and couldn't find anything online, found them on Vinted in my size - meant to be! And only paid £8.

I probably wouldn't want to be the seller though because I've heard buyers typically, including myself want things very cheaply. I can't imagine you'd earn alot from it because certain items are on there for months... even years because the seller would like more money.

ShuddaBeenMe · 19/08/2021 22:47

This sounds a bit like an advert.

I tried it and thought it was rubbish, and trustpilot reviews put me off buying anything.

Kidsteens · 19/08/2021 22:56

The add on TV actually put me off. I just thought it would be over priced 2nd hand clothing. I did look properly in the end though and I bought my first couple of bargains yesterday Grin

xsquared · 19/08/2021 22:58

I had a look at Trustpilot reviews but only after I'd listed my items on. They are not very favourable. Sad

I've sold a child's dress for a fiver but haven't heard anything back k since I've posted it on Monday and it was bought by a newbie too. I hope it'd not the bad news.

BodgertheJogger · 19/08/2021 23:05

The adverts also stopped me looking at vinted for a long time also. The adverts made me think it was going to be overpriced teenager stuff but there's some good stuff. I don't know what made me look in the end but I'm happy I did.

tigerbreadandtea · 20/08/2021 07:17

Not an advert I promise!

I have been using Vinted since it developed and have bought so many (too many) clothes for myself and the kids. I much prefer it to Depop which I also use. There are bargains to be had but you have to move quickly. I do tend to favourite lots of items, and if I think it won't sell immediately I will wait it out to see if seller offers a better price. If I was to sell on Vinted, I would definitely put the price up a bit so that I can then offer a potential buyer a reduced price.

I haven't had any duds so far. Bit like eBay, check the seller reviews before buying.
