I'm a guest at an October wedding I have a red, pink, green and white dress with a green cardi for warmth, is this ok for October or does it scream summer and will look odd in the autumn ? Any ideas on how to style it for autumn or is it a flat no !

I do think the red and pink tones are quite Summery.
Sorry.

TigsytheTiger · 18/08/2021 17:11

I think it depends on where the wedding is.

Indoors all day at one venue it would be fine. Standing outside a church in sideways rain, definitely could look too summery.

I would style with hot pink suede closed toe heels rather than sandals to give it a less summer dress look too.

MissyB1 · 18/08/2021 17:13

I actually think those are lovely autumn colours, I would just worry about your legs being cold!

PermanentTemporary · 18/08/2021 17:15

I think that's fabulous. Agree I would put a pair of tights in my bag in case, but October is really variable temp wise.

I thought Christmas rather than summer for those colours Grin

MintyGreenDream · 18/08/2021 17:18

I don't like the green cardigan sorry

Briset · 18/08/2021 17:22

When is the wedding? It's often lovely weather in the first two weeks of October.

I think the green cardi is good and makes it slightly more Autumnal. I think the whole outfit is definitely suitable.

waltzingparrot · 18/08/2021 17:50

Well if it's cold & wet and you'll be outside at times, a deep raspberry or forest green coat will work with it.

Aquamarine1029 · 18/08/2021 17:52

I love the dress but I do think it's too summer-ish.

Palavah · 18/08/2021 17:52

I think the cardigan brings the whole thing down, sorry - but I'd say that for any season.

Dogoodfeelgood · 18/08/2021 18:09

I don’t think there’s a rule that you have to wear autumn “colours” to anything is there? No problem on the colour front, just if you’re warm enough that’s all! I think the dress is gorgeous and the colours work really well together. The cardi is quite casual for a wedding but depends how formal the occasion is. If it’s a casual wedding then it’s great. But maybe a bolero would work well with the gorgeous dress? Something like this? www.roman.co.uk/tailored-jacquard-jacket-15005438?istCompanyId=2c7d42bf-c86e-4126-852a-34976c2accf2&istFeedId=2671bd7b-958a-4180-b178-22e89d93d179&istItemId=wmpwwllmm&istBid=t&gclid=CjwKCAjw3_KIBhA2EiwAaAAlipgsgvw9BsbougHaVC_nCo2Mm5DaxOVL67nVPDLcZJndtU9FoXqmGxoCKrAQAvD_BwE

Looks lovely.

Hairmumscaremum · 18/08/2021 19:13

Thank you so on the whole it's not screaming summer to everyone which is good, the wedding is early October. Thanks for the shoe suggestions and yes cold legs are a concern ! And better ideas than the cardigan ? I hadn't considered it might be too casual I never go to weddings.

Its gorgeous. I'd say red was more of Autumn/Winter rather than Summer Spring.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/08/2021 20:18

Love the dress but I think the cardigan looks terrible with it. Sorry.

Agree that a fabulous coat over it would be good. And nude tights - you can get very good ones from eg M&S Autograph.

Bookmarket · 18/08/2021 20:18

I had a late October wedding and was a little disappointed that my female guests mostly wore dowdy dark colours. So, I think your dress is very suitable for an autumn wedding.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 18/08/2021 20:23

If you were going to have a cardigan with it (and I don’t like that one!) it should be shorter, so it comes to your waist, otherwise it looks wrong with the flare of the dress.

asparalite · 18/08/2021 20:26

Love the dress, great colours, what about a black biker jacket?

RuthW · 18/08/2021 20:37

Lovely with nude tights, fascinator and lovely buttonhole

Hairmumscaremum · 18/08/2021 21:31

So lose the cardi ! I do have two black biker jackets but both feel too black and heavy, also the waist on them is a little too long for my waist in the dress (I am short bodied, long legged shape). I do have a wool raspberry colour jacket I had forgotten about that works and I guess I could wear a vest under it for warmth 😊. Shoes would short pixie style boots work I wonder? Dress falls just under my knee and I have skinny ankles if that helps ? Thank you for all your help so far, my son's and husband had been no help

Palavah · 18/08/2021 21:46

Yes pixie boots would work - what colour are they?

nzeire · 18/08/2021 21:51

Love the dress!!!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/08/2021 22:33

Black faux leather too dark and shiny, and probably too informal. What colour are the pixie boots? Flat or heeled?

Raspberry jacket sounds good.

TigsytheTiger · 19/08/2021 11:43

Raspberry jacket sounds great and ideally pixie boots would be heeled and a colour, as opposed to black which would look too heavy and clumpy.

These for example although more shoe boot
