Advice for full and dry skin?

Hello,

My skin just feels so dull at the moment and is really dry, oily in places and prone to the odd spot but "bumpy" from blackheads, pores etc.

I don't have much of a skin routine and have tried a few different things but I just can't seem to get the balance right.
At the moment I use either simple face wash the white moisturising one or nivea face scrub in the shower (alternating between morning and night) and neutrogena hydro boost cream afterwards (this is a luxury for me and it's amazing at helping keep dry patches at bay) but I look sooo DULL.
Not radiant or "glowing" and I'm only 27 Sad - it feels old but I certainly don't want to look it!

My skin is tired and I just need a good revamp but little to no idea what to do about it.

Any advice on what to use, when to use etc would be brilliant or pointing me in the right direction would be fab!

Thank you

Yeh I clicked on this to find out what "full" skin was Grin Anyways, you have my skin, minus the blemishes which only appear if I lapse with the skincare. I start putting creams etc on as soon as I've dried my face, if I do my body first my skin dries out too much before I start. I use Vichy serum after facewash, a hyaluronic acid one for moisture, then a few drops of any face oil, then moisturizer, one gel cream one (Clarins sorbet is nice) and one ordinary cream usually Olay and lastly Simple facial sunblock. The more dry my skin feels the more it chucks out oil. If I don't wash my face for 4 days it evens itself out and looks fine not greasy and feels ok too. Except it's then dirty and I get spots, so not a solution. Also get spots with cleansers that are too mild, so I use facewash like you. If I follow my routine I have glowy skin and use a bit of powder over my makeup in the afternoon when the natural oil starts coming through and making my pores show.

I have similar skin and have recently found a routine which works for me, which sounds like a lot but takes about two minutes and I buy it all in Superdrug or off Beauty Bay and Amazon.

Morning:

  1. Cleanser - I use CeraVe for dry skin
  2. Moisturising toner - I use Simple or Garnier for dry skin
  3. The Ordinary hyaluronic acid (keeps moisture in your skin)
  4. The Ordinary niacinamide+zinc (works against spots)
  5. Moisturiser with SPF - I use Cetaphil factor 50

Night:

  1. Oil cleanser - I use Uriage
  2. CeraVe Cleanser
  3. Toner
  4. Hyaluronic acid
  5. Niacinamide + zinc
  6. Moisturiser - I use either Nivea soft or E45.
  7. Squalane oil - I use one from the Ordinary but you can get it on Amazon from other companies too.

I hve dry skin too, I got really into skincare at 29 when I had a baby and I wanted a little ritual for myself and also to look less haggard lol.

Morning
I don't do much I don't like to cleanse in the morning personally but many do.

  • Vitamin C serum is brightening and great in the morning - for budget I like revolution, beauty pie or la Roche posay for treat myself I like Oskia or Medik8 Vit C
  • Spf 50
  • Erborian CC cream

Evening

  • cleansing balm or oil - budget I like Boots Great Skin or M&S rose balm, treat myself I like Then I met you or Medik8 cleaning oil
  • cleanse with a gel/ face wash style - any will do
  • Retinol - Medik8 or Beauty Pie have good starter ones.
Or I exfoliate with Ren Acid Exfoliate

If I'm feeling fancy I use a facial oil

  • moisturiser - this doesn't need to be pricey at all, I like La Roche Posay one.

Basically - to brighten I would use vit c, a gentler exfoliate and only 2x per week and just be consistent with your routine.
