I am wearing this dress for an event at the end of August and I’m totally stuck for ideas for shoes and bag especially. Please help!

My biggest problem is shoes - I have very wide feet, the top part of my foot is very steep and I have big ankles so ankle straps are out, as is anything with very high heels or dainty looking. Most nice shoes from places like Dune will not fit me.

Some bag ideas would be great too, the dress has a lot going on so I was thinking something relatively plain but I’m open to ideas.

Thank you 😀

@Quitelikeacatslife

I'm totally chunky ankled and no to flats no to ankle straps and no to kitten/dainty heels.

Yes to wedge/platform sandals with lower fronts.
My go to for smart is a metallic version on these

Or block heel sandals /shoes would be fine too ,

These are nice www.pavers.co.uk/products/zeus-slingback-heeled-sandals-gab29588-314-676

Loving those Clarks ones!

The Sargasso and Grey site is amazing - I'm definitely going to get some work shoes from there. I've been struggling to find shoes for the office too.

Thank you, some fantastic suggestions here. :)

Ugh. The Clarks ones are all sold out.

What about something like this with an ankle tie rather than a strap? Not too high either. They are a bit expensive but you can get much cheaper versions.

I have a pair of FitFlop Pilar sandals which would look good with that (gorgeous!) dress. So comfortable too, like wearing slippers. I have wide, arthritis-ravaged feet and they're heaven!

Here are a few pairs but check out the FF sale, too. The Allegra ballet flats are fantastic also - I have them in gold and they go with everything.

I ordered these recently but they were too loose on my feet, so good if you need a wider fitting. In black or coral on this website, but they were also available in tan too.

I just ordered the Clarks ones in a 7, only sold out in size 9 when I looked?

Sadly, if you select wide, it shows as sold out in all sizes.

I would go for a bright pink or orange

Quitelikeacatslife · 17/08/2021 17:27

Yes, I went for standard even though I've got square feet. Clarks are pretty generous, figured was worth a go at that price

Amitskitshaw · 17/08/2021 18:15

Orla Kiely shoes are fab. I’m a size 22 and I can run in the high heels. Wide fitting and Uber cool. Depending on how adventurous you are I’d go for: navy, orange, yellow or pink. There are also Orla Kiely bags to be had. You’ll probably have to get them off eBay as they are no longer manufactured.

I feel your pain @itcouldhave do you like these?

Or these?

Depending on how dressy you want to be, you could add a shoe clip to a plain shoe? There’s loads on Amazon.

I think a black platform sandal would work, something like this?
