I haven't worn eyeshadow for years but I kind of feel like i want to try again. I am lazy with make up and don't want to spend too long applying it in the mornings, so I am looking for something that's a universally flattering colour, easy to apply and has staying power as I can't be bothered to re touch throughout the day.

I don't want anything shimmery, more of a daytime every day look that enhances my eyes without looking too made up. I am pale with highlighted mousy brown hair and brown eyes. Oh and I am 50.

Would love to hear your recommendations for high end eyeshadows/eyeshadow sticks. Thank you!

Trinny London

I'm early 50s and it's been a revelation for me!
Not everyone rates her products, but I've not had one thing that I haven't loved!
Top tip - Wisdom is a great base eye colour 😊

Bare minerals in a tube thingy. It goes on beautifully and just evens out the eyelid and brightens them. I’ve no idea why more fuss isn’t made of them, they are genius.

They're shimmery though

I think Lndnmummy means the 5 in one shadow/primer which Bareminerals have discontinued?

Ozanj · 16/08/2021 11:06

I use glitter primer first, then liquid highlighter all into the sockets, and then use a coloured eye pencil for definition. Works really well

the Bobbi brown matte cream sticks are good. can google loads of little tutorials with them online.

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 16/08/2021 13:56

Mac Paint Pot in Groundwork. Suits all eye colours, matt but not flat. Neutral toned, cream that can be built upon or works on its own. Very easy to blend.

Halo sequel velvet touch eye palette is my all time favourite warm neutral palette.

You should be able to pick one up on eBay.

Urban decay eyeshadow is excellent, great longevity and really nice to apply. Lots of palettes to choose from.

Galassia · 16/08/2021 14:07

^^ Japonesque not halo sequel! A

Yep I mean those. They are reformatted I think and now called Gen Nude. I think they are amazing. There is a tiny amount of shimmer but certainly not sparkly. Not even shimmery, it’s just the slightest little glow.
Deathraystare · 19/08/2021 10:28

As far as I know Urban Decay was always very sparkly/shimmery. At least they were in the past.

I love Trinnie's but the one I have (well I have about 3) do have a bit of shimmer in them. Bobbi Brown's eye colour stick are very nice. I have had the taupe, a pink colour and a golden brown colour Oh! and a mauve.
