Recommend your best toning shampoos

My hairs going brassy, I need a decent toning shampoo that doesn't give your hair a purple/blue tinge to it. Not too expensive, any recommendations ?

I use Bleach London, which keeps mine pretty ashy between appointments. Even the hairdresser commented on it last time I went. It does make my hands look a bit blue very temporarily, but I don't think my hair does.

I've also used Davines purple shampoo and conditioner, and their Heart of Glass range is nice, too, but I think it's the Bleach stuff that really makes the difference.

If it's gone brassy might it be worth going to the hairdresser to have a toner put on it before starting the shampoo/conditioner? Mine maintains the tone, but I'm not sure if it would reverse brassiness, necessarily, depending how bad it is.

Thank you! I went with fanola in the end, it's brilliant ! Really brought my hair up a lovely silvery blonde

I've just used Bleach London's Smoky Shampoo for the first time. It's ashier than a silver/purple shampoo imo. More muted. I usually buy pink and blue colour depositing shampoos and mix them with conditioner to apply to dry hair before I wash it. This produces a stronger pigment than your regular purple shampoo, but I often get the balance wrong and end up with blue or purple-ish hair. I do actually really like those pastel shades, but my employers don't, I fear.

I used to use fanola but hate the smell. I'm really impressed with treseme ash hair mask. Gives a lovely pearly ash colour and doesn't dry out as much as fanola does

I've just ordered the treseme Ash mask to try, had my half head of highlights done two weeks ago and not happy with how some stands look golden, ( I ask for ash ones) its on offer at superdrug.
