My sisters wedding is this coming December. I really like this dress, but it is out of stock Sad.

Can you please help me find something similar. Must have's are velvet, detail to hide my Mummy tum, at least midi length as i dont like my legs. Im a busty, curvy size 14. Budget no more than about £150...but would love a bargain! so i can splash out a little more on shoes!.

I actually think the RI one makes that model look like she has a mum tum tbh, it really sticks out from right under her bust.

Love this one

Need a belt with this one

I love the closet one.

If you want to stay navy, how about

Ooo I really like the one from Truly!

See im fussy with how the hem lines are finished to, i love the colour of the closet one, but not how the hem is finished.

This one is stunning to, the wedding is the 18th of December and whilst it wont be Christmas themed, it will be very winter wonderland.

I like the river island one best so far. Worth keeping an eye on Ebay?

Notonthehighstreet often do velvet dresses.

Divebar2021 · 15/08/2021 22:17

Check out this bad boy. I’ve got a winter wedding too and quite fancy this in the emerald green.

Yes i will certainly keep my eye's peeled!

@Divebar2021 I really LOVE that one! Hmm might have to have beans on toast for a few weeks, see if i can stretch to it!

@McFarts

I know sorry - totally over budget. I was happy to find it too… the one I liked was £640 from Valentino! Blush

Please help me find a dress like this please.
Divebar2021 · 15/08/2021 23:20

Errr Philosophy not Valentino.

Talipesmum · 15/08/2021 23:58

I’d have thought you’d get more choice in a month’s time or so, as the shops start to have more “Xmas party wear” in. August can’t be the best time for buying velvet dresses for winter weddings.
I’ve tried the Nancy Mac one in a different fabric and it is lovely. Worth following their pages in case of discounts, doesn’t happen much though.

Talipesmum · 15/08/2021 23:59

FYI also Nancy Mac can make the dresses customised if need be - diff lengths, fabrics, swap sleeves etc.

Kaleidmoscope · 16/08/2021 00:11

Sorry to derail but THANK YOU to PP for just introducing me to Nancy Mac, I'd never heard of them and am now wondering where they have been all my life!! Gorgeous!!

Divebar2021 · 16/08/2021 00:12

I agree about waiting a little… I’m hoping to lose some more weight anyway but I probably won’t look until at least October. ( wedding is between Xmas and New Year. )

McFarts · 16/08/2021 08:19

Yes I agree, its not really the right time to be looking. I just like to be prepared Smile

Another vote for Nancy Mac - gorgeous dresses. Definitely worth a few weeks of beans on toast! 😁
Agree with the suggestion to wait a while….there are usually some gorgeous velvet dresses in the autumn/winter collections. Worth looking at Monsoon, and keeping an eye on the John Lewis website doing a general search for velvet dresses - also try Gina Bacconi.
Velvet is perfect for winter weddings - hope you find something lovely.

Love this but only in a 12, doesn't look like a tight fit so may be worth a try?

Cheermonger · 16/08/2021 09:42

Lol I see I’m very late to the Nancy Mac party! The dresses are lush though

McFarts · 16/08/2021 11:43

Wow!! the bombshell dresses @mrssmiling look blooming wonderful!! does anyone know what the size is like?

@nanbread I really like that one, but i think i fancy something a just a bit more glam, ive recently lost over 5 stone, so im going to try and be brave and show my curves.

mrssmiling · 16/08/2021 16:53

I’ve only admired Bombshell dresses - but I’m sure there are lots of people who could advise. Maybe start a separate thread with Bombshell dresses in title? If you search Mumsnet a few threads come up…this might be helpful. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/3997528-bombshell-dresses

notoldjustpastyoung · 17/08/2021 17:55

If you don't need it till December surely they will have some in stock by then and you can put an order in.
