Home hair dye , how often ?

Can no longer afford to go to the hairdresser to get my hair dyed . I used to get it done every 6 weeks. Wondering how often people dye their hair at home . I presume it’s ok to keep to a 6 week schedule?

I'm sure others will be along, but I do roughly 6-8 weeks, but then I don't worry about my roots overly much! Just do all over when it looks a bit too grey in the middle!
