Control underwear - too much choice

Anyone any experience brand of this please?

Want something to pull stomach and define waist for a wedding - fit and flare dress so vpl not an issue - Hobbs twitchill

Nude tights will be needed so hopefully won't slip down shiny control pants!

Trying to decide between Spanx M&S Next and Heist.

Think I'm going for one of those wear your own bra pant (not shorts) suits in a 10 (though I'm probably a 10-12)

Not had one before. I've lots of Spanx shorts and thought about high waisted pants but don't want them to roll down.

Also not keen on poppers in gusset for a body.

Anyone any recommendations on brand please??

I agree about avoiding poppers, you could finish up deflowering yourself all over again. 😂.

For a better line, try an M&S control slip where you wear your own bra. They do several, here’s one example

They are practical when you go for a wee too.

Thanks for the tip! Are they difficult to walk in the though - the control slip?

Do you size down or usual size please? Want to be able to breath but not be disappointed doesn't keep me in

Highly recommend heist, their pants come with straps (like bra straps) that you can hook on so there’s no chance of them rolling down. If you are a 10-12 then go for the 12 (or equivalent), never size down in shape wear. I am the same size as you and wear a medium in heist.

I know you said you don’t like things that do up on the gusset; heist pants dont, their outer body bodysuit does but this is my favourite piece of shapewear I’ve ever had, it’s light and breathable (more than the pants) and very effective.

Brilliant thanks for the tip! Will take a look now

Just a thought but as you're planning on wearing tights, would firm control topped tights be suitable instead?

whatever1980 · 15/08/2021 14:11

@TopTabby I was looking at Spanx and high waist control tights but want them large enough that gusset isn't half way down by thighs but tight enough to keep me in.

Spanx tights are £30 and some reviews say they run first time on wearing. Really want something to bring my waist

Any recommendations on control tights please?

I only tend to wear black tights, usually the 80 deniers so that wouldn't be any good for you! Surprisingly the Primark ones are amazing & last quite a while, pretty sure they do a nude shade.
I've had some nude (7 denier) ones from M&S but that was a while ago, worked well but I snagged them almost immediately on my ring, I am clumsy like that though & can't be trusted with expensive tights!
You'd need to try them on too which of course you can't do without buying so maybe cheaper is best?

whatever1980 · 15/08/2021 23:34

@TopTabby thanks I've seen a few reviews for primark shape wear - wish they were online!

OP, M&S control slips do not restrict walking, they are looser the nearer you get to the hem.

With control tights, with regard to the wandering crotch as l call it. The M&S ones have a proper cotton gusset. The secret is not to wear knickers with them. That way the top adheres to the body and no slippage.
