Work bag or laptop bag?

I am a hybrid worker (was before the pandemic) and tend to travel to different offices around England and Scotland.

I usually just take my laptop bag and put my notebooks and purse in there. My laptop bag is just the standard boring work issued one.

I was going to treat myself to a nice new work handbag, the realised I wouldn't want to carry 2 bags. I don't really use handbags outside work.

Would you get a really nice laptop bag, or a handbag and just accept you have to carry 2 bags?

And if anyone has some recommendations, I would really appreciate it.

I work in quite a corporate environment and often the first person people meet from our company. If that's helps.

Thank you in advance

@DirtyDancing thank you I will definitely take a look. It may still be the best option and will definitely look at padded shoulder straps. That's probably one of the reasons I hate my work laptop bag. No padding on the straps Shock

@hellsbells99 thank you I will take a look.

@Coffeepot72 I was like that in my last job. I had a trip to London with exh for 3 days, came back and was heading off to work and realised I had bigger bags for a day at work, than I drip for my trip. 🤦‍♀️

@ttcsucks I was thinking that might work. Just finding the right one

@CornishTiger there's so many I like too Grin

@LivingLaVidaBabyShower I am a disorganised mess too, though try not to be. Step one.....new bag Grin. I will look at the LV one

Thank you @Cherry321 yeah my laptop is quite heavy, I think. My bag feels fairly heavy. But that could be all the other stuff on it too 🤣

If you walk any distance with your laptop if recommend a rucksack style bag so you can evenly distribute the weight on both shoulders. I have a leather (looking) one, the laptop and cables go in A4 sized insert bag so they easily slide in (cables always tangle for me), and another A5 bag for me-maintenance stuff (foldable hairbrush, spare mask, hand santiser, etc etc). With stuff contained rather than loose in the bag, I find water bottles etc behave better ....

I use an LV Neverfull - have done this for ten years and the bag still looks good as new I've used it pretty much everyday.

If you don't want logos they do an epi version that is much more discreet

I use a Kerikit rucksack. I have a similar work set up to you, go to different locations etc, and these bags are beautiful and the internal organisation really helps me. I discovered the brand earlier this year via Mumsnet!

LivingLaVidaBabyShower · 14/08/2021 17:05

The LV Neverfull costs a fair bit but honestly it goes and goes.
Both mine look perfect 6 years on and they have had some serious abuse.

I got the ysl leather tote which is £500 vs the LV NF which is pretty much double. It was garbage in comparison. the leather straps were destroyed within 6 months and when i took ot back i was told by an indignant french man in the store that a tote wasnt designed for "carrying many things" (wtf? 😅)
They replaced it in the end

If your laptop is heavy id suggest checking it out in store to ensure the straps on NF are comfortable and dont dig in

LivingLaVidaBabyShower · 14/08/2021 17:06

@ttcsucks yes the epi is stunning.
I so sad they are only doing it in black now the coloured ones were 🤩😍

Hekatestorch · 14/08/2021 18:18

I really want the LV NF! But am looking at the kerikit ones as well.

The dune MEL one is 😍

I can stretch my budget to the LV NF. Just never had spent that much money on a bag
I have had cars that cost less Grin

Just odd to have the money to do it but also be scared of it. Blush

I like the epi but, would prefer a colour other than black

Some are heavy type material some are fairly lightweight, when I'm transporting it needs to be lightweight for when I need to switch modes of transport and to be fairly lightweight if I had to carry it by the handle and run. I'd say shop around and try different ones.

I had a lovely tote with a padded zipped middle compartment designed for laptops. However, I do now find handbag style bags uncomfortable.. I take my laptop bag to work and a rucksack everywhere else now 😂
