Fat feet

I'm mortified. I'm 40 and a dress size 22. I've always been about a 7/7.5/8 in side fitting shoes. Through covid I've been WFH, so lots of sitting. I do between 2500-10000 steps a day (the smaller figure is migraine days where I can't move from bed for long which happens a lot tbh) and I have started swimming again in the last fortnight.

I'm trying on shoes in shops for the first time since maybe December 2019, and not only are my clod hoppers wider than I remember they are SO FAT and puffy! Have I ruined my feet? Will they slim down again? I haven't found one pair that fit me and I like....

I want some non - grannyish flat sandals (dodgy ankle after a break a few years ago). I've lived in Crocs (sorry not sorry), Reef adjustable sandals, Uggs, laced up Army boots, slippers and bare feet since all this began.

I've tried Clarks, Hotter, New Look, Next, Matalan, Sports Direct, all the supermarkets - not sure what's left?

Help!

If it makes you feel any better, I often have to buy wide or even extra wide fit shoes and I’m a 8-10…

New Look and ASOS both do a decent fat feet range, as do M&S although their styles can be a bit hit and miss

SimplyBe and Evans do a variety of widths for shoes and boots.
