30th birthday… to Monica Vinader or not…

My younger cousin has her 30th coming up. I’m close to her and would like to get a piece of jewellery. I was planning a trip to Hatton Garden but her sister has said she’d really like a necklace from Monica Vinader. I’m now torn between getting her something she’s asked for and secretly thinking MV is “of its time” and likely to be sniffed at in years to come, whereas something from HG is more likely to be appreciated for longer.

Interested in people’s views. Am I old, out of touch and should go to MV or do I secretly know better and should stick with my plan?!

Jewellery is so personal. I like Monica Vinader and I have some things from there but I’m sure you’ll find beautiful stuff in Hatton Garden that won’t date and you’ll get much more value for your £. She might not like it more though.

Hayton Garden... Give a gift you have selected rather than so eone else's suggestion

And why does the rudeness of other people "sniffing" at it change anything if that's what she'd like? If you like HG, you could buy something for yourself

@Ghosttile and @JoyOrbison thanks for this. It’s exactly the dilemma… something I chose vs will she like it! I think I’m biased because I’ve had pieces gifted before that I’ve initially overlooked but over time they mean so much before because they were chosen by that person.

@Boogiethebeat sorry if it came over as rude.
