Guerlain Mitsouko - fake or reformulated?

Hi, does anyone know if Mitsouko has been reformulated within the last few months???

I have just bought a bottle of EDP online from a supposedly reputable perfume retailer and it basically smells of water and a very faint trace of Mitsouko. I have worn mitsouko for over 25 years and have never ever experienced anything like this. Even when I have bought the EDT in the past it’s been 100 x stronger than this!

My immediate thought was that it’s a fake but the shop has good reviews online 🤷‍♀️

If it’s a terrible reformulation I will be heartbroken because Mitsouko is my all time favourite and this hardly smells of anything. It’s about as strong as the traces of scent you can just about smell on a coat (for example) a few days after wearing a particular perfume.

Don't know about in the last few months but weren't they all reformulated a few years back. Something to do with not using Oakmoss any more as some people are allergic (well just don't use the damn perfume then!!!). Pissed me off no end as I love that ingredient!

I think they just did it for cheapness. Not just Guerlain either.

I've also worn it for 25 years, love it and never wear anything else. I bought a bottle of EDP from a big department store in person (maybe Debenhams..?), got it home but when I opened it it didn't smell right at all; a pale imitation of what Mitsouko should be.

To the shop's credit, they exchanged it with no argument at all. This was a few years ago now tho. Maybe there's the odd dud bottle somehow..?

(As a pp said, I think they did reformulate it a few years ago to remove the Oakmoss, but I've definitely purchased and worn it since then, and it's still Mitsouko thank goodness!)

Can you complain to the online retailer and request a refund, or at least an exchange..?
