Hi,

Need to take better care of my skin and am looking for an everyday SPF for my face that is non greasy and can apply (basic) make up over straight away.

I’m 40.

What do people suggest?

Thanks!

Altruist skin fluid
La roche Posey anti shine
LRP anthelios
Garnier Anthelios dupe

You need to let all spfs dry down for a few mins before applying makeup

I've just ordered the Biore rich watery essence SPF50 as a friend says its excellent. I have been using Ultrasun or Nivea.

Mamaprima · 12/08/2021 15:03

Polaar sun lotion spf50. I tried it and liked it a lot. They have a tinted cream as well.

Galassia · 12/08/2021 15:06

Gruum SPF50 face sunscreen.

I’ve used lots and now use this.

MummyJ12 · 12/08/2021 15:13

No7 Protect and Perfect Advanced Facial Sun Protection SPF 30 or 50. They do colourless or tinted. I use it as a tinted moisturiser but also have colourless for when I don’t want the tint.

Cetaphil SPF 50 from Superdrug - and others I guess

Happy36 · 12/08/2021 15:32

Glossier is light, non greasy, and easy to wear.

Estée Lauder Perfectionist Pro Multi-Defense Aqua UV Gel SPF 50

NIVEA SUN UV Face Suncream SPF 50 Shine Control 50ml

Not at all greasy, brilliant under make up

ZaraW · 12/08/2021 17:03

Thank you Farmer SPF 50.

Justbetweenus · 12/08/2021 17:05

Ultrasun Face SPF50. Rubs in easily, Matt finish/not shiny and no white cast.

Mcmcmcmc · 12/08/2021 17:16

Agree with @Darklane Nivea UV face spf 50 shine control is brilliant.
If you prefer a sunscreen without any scent, try Nivea UV face SPF 50 sensitive.
They also do a q10 version but it’s a bit oilier and doesn’t work as well under makeup.

I suggest you wait at least a couple of minutes between applying any SS and applying makeup, as the sunscreen needs to form a (invisible) “film” over your skin in order to protect from the sun. And ideally you shouldn’t rub in makeup on top of the sunscreen as that would remove the film. It sounds like a faff but in practice you get used to it!
For example, I use a creamy concealer and pat it on my undereye area (no rubbing). I don’t put other creamy makeup on skin, and finish with a light brushing of finishing powder and sometimes a light brushing or powder bronzer or brush.

This one is amazing. Especially under make up. I'm very fair and this is the only one that has fully protected my face.

Thanks all, I think maybe I’ll go for the boots one as I use their stuff anyway. Although do like the idea of anti shine too, hmm

@OrangeBlossom28 where did you get the biore watery essence from? I hear great things about it but then lots of Amazon reviews say it's a fake?

OrangeBlossom28 · 12/08/2021 22:36

@WisestIsShe I ordered it from Stylevana so it's going to be genuine.

WisestIsShe · 12/08/2021 22:45

@orangeBlossom28
That's great! Thanks, I'll have a look.

Shellfishblastard · 12/08/2021 22:47

Altruist face fluid
Ultrasun face fluid - I have only tried the tinted SPF one but love it.

I am 39

Beachlovingirl · 13/08/2021 08:24

I am 43 and use…. The tesco face sun cream spf50 with q10. It was about £3, I’ve used it for a good few months with no issues and it smells nice. But it is quite dewy when it goes on. I do leave it for 10 mins before applying any other make up.
