Anyone and DM boot advice?

OP posts:
Greenrubber · 11/08/2021 21:10

Because one has money off they are the same boot

ShesComeUndone · 11/08/2021 22:09

The Bex version has a chunkier sole than the normal 1460. The Pascal 1460 which I don’t think you have linked to has thinner softer leather and is supposed to be easier to break in.

spongedod · 11/08/2021 22:14

They are different boots and one of them is discounted.

Ask your DD what she wants.

wontsomebodythinkofthechildren · 11/08/2021 22:15

Also the ones on schuh have a zip as well as the chunkier sole. They are much 'cooler'.

The other ones are the standard 1460 but specially designed as work safety boots (anti slip etc).

WhoppingBigBackside · 11/08/2021 22:55

The safety ones. The fashion ones look cooler but the others will be fine. It doesn't say if they have steel toe caps.

Suasthuasanuas · 12/08/2021 00:16

@ShesComeUndone is spot on. The soft leather Paschal 1460 is the one to go for. Super comfortable and no breaking in while suffering with blisters stage.

WhoEatsPopTarts · 12/08/2021 00:46

Neither. You need Jaydons

Beckieloo · 12/08/2021 07:39

Thanks all, looked at Jadon’s and think they’re the ones she’d want. When I was a teen we wore the standard ones but I guess things have moved on! REALLY EXPENSIVE though… 😬!

Craftycorvid · 12/08/2021 07:53

Check out eBay for the Jadons - they come up quite often for sale (they look super heavy so possibly people get fed up trying to break them in).

thesunwillout · 12/08/2021 07:58

I remember trying the normal 1460 on in Schuh for size, told daughter to say they weren't quite what she wanted. Bit blaggy I know but they were very expensive.
We then ordered them from Blue Banana online as they were having a sale.

hugoagogo · 12/08/2021 08:05

rubbersole they're cheaper here, but docs are so hard wearing it is worth it. My dd is very hard on shoes, but hers are still going strong after two years.

Skyeheather · 12/08/2021 08:05

The first pair are work boots aimed at builders, cleaners, maintenance people etc. They probably have anti-slip soles and steel toe caps (can't see because your link doesn't work on my phone).

The second pair are fashion boots and Schuh are always expensive anyway for branded shoes.

If you want to buy some DM's shop around on the internet. I just got some DM Chelsea boots on Amazon for £131.00. Everywhere else wanted the RRP of £149.00. I got genuine boots.

WhoppingBigBackside · 12/08/2021 08:57

If you are looking on eBay. watch out for fakes. If it looks too good to be true...
Avoid the patent leather ones, they are difficult to break in.

Jackgrealishscurtains · 12/08/2021 09:04

Yes, the first ones have a chunky sole, they are always more expensive.

Beware of Jasons, they are gorgeous but awful to break in, and if you do get them just get the normal leather ones, because anything else just won't break in.

I also have a pair of Pascales and they were totally comfortable from the first wear, plus I think the shape is a bit nicer than the 1460s.

WhoppingBigBackside · 12/08/2021 09:13

I'd go for the Pascal too. Less stylish but more likely to not look dated, and easier to break in. Will also have resale value if she changes her mind.

WhoEatsPopTarts · 12/08/2021 10:00

They are expensive but my dd wears her all year and has had them for seven years, they were a Christmas present though. Apparently the vegan ones aren’t great.

Beckieloo · 12/08/2021 10:39

I might go for the pascal then. Her trainers and walking boots are a size 6 but school shoes a 5.5, should I go for a 5 or a 6?!

I can’t open your link but agree with others, first link is for a safety pair, husband used to wear doc marten boots for work (Bobby) so they were reinforced. Do you live anywhere near Cheshire oaks outlet place, they have a store and are a lot cheaper, albeit there isn’t the choice.
