I have hair past my shoulder, ideally as kind as possible to hair as it's bleached, i think fine-ish hair but a lot of it, goes very fluffy once dried (thank god for straighteners!)
Any straightener suggestions too as my GHD platinums blew up and i'm back using my old spare set

DH bought me the Dyson hairdryer a few years ago and I was aghast at what I then thought was a lazy, showy "look how generous I am?" present and a waste of money.

How wrong I was!!!!

I now wouldn't be without it. I can dry my hair so quickly and style it much better too.

Another vote for Dyson, I've had mine for 4 years and I love it, it's the best hair styling tool I've ever ever owned

ineedaholidayandwine · 11/08/2021 19:36

Thank you! I had considered the Dyson but the cost always deterred me. One for the Christmas list Grin

I thought of you this morning OP as I rough dried my hair (just past shoulders in length) then used a brush to finish the ends and give me some texture and curl. The whole thing took less time than it took DH to get out of bed and brush his teeth. Smile

I use a hair dryer from a Swiss brand called Valera. I love mine (that has lasted for more than 3 years now), and it was very reasonably priced, too. The dryer comes with attachments as well, and my hair feels soft after I dry it.

Galassia · 12/08/2021 13:19

Another vote for Dyson. I have had a lot of hair dryers that I haven’t got on with and passed on, including Parlux ones which a lot on here like but in my opinion are nowhere near as good as the Dyson.

It’s made a huge difference in the time and the look of my hair afterwards.

SweatyBetty20 · 12/08/2021 13:23

I have a Parlux for home and a Hair Tools one for the office changing room. I have curly hair which I blow straight and hairdressers hairdryers are the only ones which don’t overheat and cut out. My last Hair Tools one lasted for 16 years! Never tried a Dyson but the cost puts me off if I don’t like it, and the Parlux and Hairtools do the perfect job for me.

ineedaholidayandwine · 12/08/2021 13:25

I think I'll go with Dyson for Christmas, i like the flyaway tool it comes with now as i get quite a few fine sticky out bits.
Thank you all, very helpful StarThanks

I bought a Parlux Alyon earlier this year and am really happy with it. Would love a Dyson but can’t bring myself to pay for one. The Parlux had really good reviews. They are heavier hairdryers but that’s not an issue for me.

I have fine hair but DD1 has very thick hair and it’s made such a difference when drying her hair.

Hop on the feminist boards and start a thread about how you fully support self ID and shared changing rooms.

LiberteEgaliteBeyonce · 12/08/2021 13:32

I bought a Parlux after reading raving reviews here and I couldn't bring myself to buy a Dyson.
Totally happy with it, would recommend it.

Parlux Alyon. Much prefer it to the Dyson. No idea what the feminist board comment means!

TomatoSoup69 · 12/08/2021 14:13

I love my Parlux - It's an Advance Light, ionic/ceramic one. Fun colour, not heavy and dries my hair quickly without frying it or frizzing it up. Hair is straight, fine but loads of it and I wash and dry my hair every day.

Really recommend.

Me neither! Seems an odd comment on a thread about hairdryers 😂

I’ve got the Dyson air wrap and use the smoothing brush attachment for every day, dries quickly and lower heat and the result is as if I had done a proper blow dry and straightened my hair but in a fraction of the time.

user1477249785 · 12/08/2021 14:41

Another vote for parlux which in my experience is better with fine hair than a dyson.

Woodenhorse · 12/08/2021 14:50

Lots of love with me for the Dyson one it really is one of the best things my other half has bought me.

SweatyBetty20 · 12/08/2021 15:26

I got the Feminist board joke but it took a second. It would be a somewhat incendiary question and would provoke a reaction akin to the Alex Ferguson Hairdryer treatment (when he used to bawl out his players at half time).

MauveMavis · 12/08/2021 15:27

Parlux Alyon here.

I like it.

headintheproverbial · 12/08/2021 15:38

I have a Dyson. It's great but genuinely I don't think you can beat a Parlux.

Lakeshore6 · 12/08/2021 18:57

I have a GHD air. I have never used another brand since

ChampagneWorries · 12/08/2021 19:30

I have a dyson and think its brilliant. I upgraded from a parlux.

Had it around 4 years.

ineedaholidayandwine · 12/08/2021 19:50

You've all been really helpful thank you Smile
