Are the dresses any good? I’ve been having a look absolutely can see they’re polyester which puts me off! Does anyone own one or tried one and could give some feedback?

Avoid. They look nice on the website but are a horrible cheap material that made me stink after a few hours which wasn't good at work ! And the waist sits on a funny place that made my stomach look like it sticks out from the side.

cherrypiepie · 11/08/2021 10:47

I bought one a few years ago and returned as the waist was really high on me. when I went back to look at alternative styles, they looks like cotton jersey but have high polyester content. ( see a previous s & b thread about a smell popsy dress- not by me)

Also there is a weird cultish following (primarily fuelled by a Facebook group) where people get obsessed with buying new releases and having a wardrobe full of popsy dresses. It's quite a distinctive look - and it put me off. I also find it quite an aggressive marketing tactic which I personally dislike.

Having said that some of the plain dark dresses look good for work.

I bought my first one recently and do like the fit and style (it has cats on) but yes polyester-ish so you wouldn't want to wear on a warm day

And oh yes the FB group is quite weird and I have just taken myself off it this week. So sycaphantic and I know we should be embracing positive body image and all that but there is way too much ...you look gorgeous hun.. even to the men and no one will say sorry that doesn't suit you. No one should be mean but this goes the other way

Oldraver · 11/08/2021 13:50

Oh and I put off buying one for a while as they are displayed in a weird way. Each item is given a name rather than having one style in different prints. I think it makes it hard to wade through them

LadyR77 · 11/08/2021 15:15

I used to love them when they were more vintage-style dresses, but now they're all just whimsical, quite child-like prints and the fabric quality is rubbish - they bobble ridiculously quickly and they're polyester so get really sweaty and horrible. I'm still in the FB group but it is a weird place - god help anyone who dares to make even the slightest criticism of Popsy!

StormyTeacups · 11/08/2021 15:17

I have one in quite a loose fit that I like, in an understated pattern. The others are too cutesy for me. Cheap material.

Brefugee · 11/08/2021 15:29

Mine are fine but I only wear them in winter. The waists are too high for me because I have large boobs.

They have pockets. Smile

CurbsideProphet · 11/08/2021 16:05

@LadyR77 yes I also liked the original tunic / 60s style dresses from the very beginning (approx 2017). I thought they were far more flattering for more body types.

KeepScrapingBy · 11/08/2021 16:07

I agree the waists are too high and the material is bobbly. I think it would feel sweaty after an hour even in winter.

Fruityb · 11/08/2021 16:31

Ahh it’s the sweaty I don’t want. I might pass then. I can’t wear polyester but didn’t know if things were a bit better than they used to be - or this being jersey type would make it better.
