Daith or Tragus piercing?

pumpkinspicee · 10/08/2021 21:50

SoX I'm dying to decide between a daith or a tragus piercing!
I can't decide which to go for. I had a bad experience with a forward helix last year, the piercer didn't put in the correct jewellery so I had to go onto a course of 2 weeks worth of antibiotics Sad

I think I'm ready for another one now, after having to remove the infected one - and will be going to a different, reputable piercer!

So, which do you have and prefer? 😀

Daith! I love mine and I have both

pumpkinspicee · 10/08/2021 22:07

@bethabean they do look beautiful! How did you find the healing process? I've been so wary of piercings after my last one.. this is what it looked like when I had to begin antibiotics 😅☹️

I got my Tragus done recently & love it. Been a hassle for healing though but settled down down.

Sugamoma1 · 10/08/2021 22:17

I really want my tragus and daith pierced too. Think they look great and hoping they may help with my migraines. I was going to get tragus pierced first then daith but have been a bit nervous.......

pumpkinspicee · 10/08/2021 22:19

Oh I love both, I really can't decide! Also really like the look of the rook piercing. Ahh I need somebody to decide for me! 🤣🙈

I’ve got both in my right ear and love them. Diath unfortunately hasn’t helped with migraines. I would go diath first then tragus as they have more cartilage and can be harder to heal or just go for both Grin

WildflowerWildfire · 10/08/2021 22:22

I got my tragus done about 2 months ago and it’s been a nightmare to heal. I still love the way it looks though.

DrWankincense · 10/08/2021 22:23

I've recently had both!
Tragus has been fine healing and the worst part of the piercing was the crunch! Was 3 months ago.
Daith was only a week ago and was fine until today and now it has swollen a bit but I'm hoping it will settle.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 10/08/2021 22:23

I went for a daith piercing but it turns out I don't really have one....but I do have a lovely rook so that got pierced instead.

Also I did wonder about a tragus but dd had her's done first and looking at it gives me the fear that something might drop off and fall into my ear and just be rattling about in my brain. forever.

Ladypuggerz · 10/08/2021 22:29

I've got both. Tragus didn't hurt at all, quick to heal, never been a bother. Daith was a little sore, took 1.5 years to truly settle but applying tea tree oil really helped. Love them both! Hard not to want more. Grin

Toddlerdogwoes · 10/08/2021 22:31

My faith has just about healed from November. It was numbed first and barely hurt but the forward helix I had done a month ago is super sore and I might give up with it

WhoNeedsaManOfTheWorld · 10/08/2021 22:33

I have both. The daith did reduce my migraines
The daith seems more unusual and I get compliments about it. It's nicely tucked away for healing so it didn't catch anything
I was told the daith is the most painful but I found the tragus hurt more. I like them both but I would choose the daith

Toddlerdogwoes · 10/08/2021 22:34

I stupidly had my daith on the wrong side for my migraines too but not sure I can face the other side. It was comfy to sleep on though being tucked away.

Borrasca · 10/08/2021 22:35

I've just had my rook done and I love it! Definitely daith over tragus.

pumpkinspicee · 10/08/2021 22:38

Thank you all! Really interesting to hear which ones you all have! Any pics would be a bonus!! Im so undecided at the moment. I had my forward helix (posted a pic somewhere above) which I got a nasty infection in due to the piercer using lobe jewellery in it, then changing it to a curved belly bar 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣 so I'm a bit weary now 🙈

HighHighHopes · 10/08/2021 22:38

My daith was fine to heal. The tragus was sore for weeks but eventually settled down.

I get more compliments on the daith than the tragus.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 10/08/2021 22:44

I had both tragus done at the same time and was a nightmare to sleep.
Also took an absolute age to heal them.
I have since taken them out.

I wanted daith to see if it helped with migraines but they seem to have stopped on their own.

Sugamoma1 · 10/08/2021 22:51

I'm thinking I might get daith pierced first now having read comments. I've heard mixed reviews about it helping with migraines. I think rook looks lovely too. I have had my tragus pierced before but had to keep taking out for work and I think it developed a keloid (lump of scar tissue around the hole) 😬

ginandnappies · 10/08/2021 22:55

I got my Tragus done a month or so ago, I was surprised how much it didn't hurt (I had built it up in my head) but it does crunch when getting it done! I love it though and have had no problems with it healing at all!

wheresmyhairytoe · 10/08/2021 22:59

Get both!

I love both of mine, tragus healed easier than the daith.

Bebeschitt · 10/08/2021 23:03

My forward helix took nearly 18 months to fully heal. It was a bitch. My daith was no bother, well, the usual after piercing swell but it soon settled. My piercer says that you have the best chance of a good heal if you are well and taking care of yourself. So good sleep, healthy food and lots of water.
I have chronic migraine but didn't get my daith pierced as a cure. And it didn't.
It's addictive though, not sure what I'll get done next but there will definitely be another hole. Or 2!

Fruityb · 10/08/2021 23:10

I have a tragus and it was the best one I’ve had done. Healed up so easily and never given me any bother at all. Changing jewellery in it is a bugger though!!
I’ve got both conch piercings, a helix and a forward Helix. Conch ones can still get sore as they have some more movement than the others. Had my forward helix done last Thursday and would never know it hadn’t been there for ages. I have an excellent piercer - she’s the only one I’ll let do it.

bethabean · 10/08/2021 23:16

My daith healed well but tragus got really infected and swollen! I love my daith because it's so pretty and subtle

Gaaaahhhhhhhh · 10/08/2021 23:25

Love my daith. It healed really well as it’s hard to catch it on anything. Did nothing for my migraines but it’s pretty.
It proper hurt going in but only for a second.
