Dresses for a tall overweight person

Does anyone have any personal recommendations? I need a couple of nice dresses that won't make me look frumpy and even bigger than I am.

If you are tall and overweight where would you look for a dress?

I'm looking for something for a nice dinner but not super posh or smart.

I tend to go with empire line. So tight across bodice and then a bit flowy. East has some nice things and tend to do natural fabrics. Often found on Ebay if money is tight. I'm a 16 and 5 11"

Hello! I'm a tall size 18 Smile

What sort of style do you like? I have a beautiful dress from Sezane. I also love Baum Und Pferdgarten, Ganni (only goes up to a 16, but some of their dresses come up massive, so I get away with it). Both these last two are on Outnet. They have bigger sizes on Outnet. I also like John Lewis as they have so many brands to try and often have sales on. Phase Eight used to be good but I am not keen anymore. Oliver Bonas also do some nice dresses up to an 18 I think, big again, they often come up big IME.

Or a wrap dress

Easy to wear, comfy and flattering.

I would have a look at Laura Adlington from the great British bake off on Instagram, she is about 5’9 and a size 20 I think, she dresses beautifully and shares where she gets clothes from.

Have a look at in the style and the jess Millichamp collection - she has a lovely wrap dress that is in tall option apparently. Not tried it myself
