Any nail experts around?

I'd been getting my nails done (shellac) with the same technician for about 2 years and no issues. Went without for months due to lockdowns and during that time a really good friend trained as a technician so I said I'd be her client as I'd like to support her. She does a great job and they always look fab. However my nails keep breaking and they're all breaking at the same point on the nail - really far down so that it's actually really painful Shock It's just happened again this evening which is nail no 6 to break in the last few weeks. It never happened before so I'm wondering if it's something to do with how she's filing them? Would anyone know or have any idea why this is suddenly happening? Apart from looking awful it's also as I said really sore! I marked on the pic where the break is although it's hard to get it to show up on a photo.

It’s impossible to tell without seeing the actual nail itself or knowing what she does but does she buff every time?
Did your last tech use a stronger base gel that your friend doesn’t?

She files them but I don't think she buffs them, I will check next time. Possibly using a stronger base gel, definitely using different brand to what the previous technician used. Previous technician used to remove the polish with an electric file and my friend soaks it off which I know is better for nails so I'm confused as to why they suddenly seem in far worse condition.

To be fair, it may be nothing to do with anything she's doing, just pure coincidence that it started at the same time.
