October wedding guest outfit advice

We are going to a wedding in early October and l am struggling about what to wear. I am thinking navy would be nice and maybe one of these dresses? I am 5'7, size 10-12, with dodgy stomach but good legs, long dark hair, olive skin and green eyes. I was considering some of these dresses with maybe nude shoes, bag and wrap / stole? I would love a fur wrap but probably it will be too warm for that and l will look silly! Anyone got any other suggestions?

I think the second one is lovely and would be perfect.

@AnyFucker thanks for the link. I have good things about Izabel

@Cookiebox good call about Hobbs, it’s a nice bright dress

I’m trying to move away from black!

Then navy makes sense OP and will look fab with your colouring. Hmm… I just feel you need to move away from the staid and very fitted (bottom half) options into something more swishy and dressed up. I’ll have a look.

@VenusClapTrap weirdly enough l was on the Johnny Loves Rosie website recently and they had some cute corsages. I also have a thing about red shoes. Maybe it’s navy dress, red shoes, nude bag and wrap / cardi thing?

@Defiantly41 you’re a bad influence -l have been wanting to justify something from Nancy Mac for a while now!

I have just bought this Ted Baker dress for an Autumn wedding

The pics on the website don’t do it justice. It’s lovely (not navy, but I am pairing it with navy accessories)

That Ted Baker dress is nice, but I can't get past £195 for a polyester dress! Shock

AnyFucker · 12/08/2021 17:16

There isn’t a great deal of really nice stuff, tbh. I have shopped my little socks off today. Thankfully I got some bargain strappy sandals for £3.50 (yes £3.50) so I am going to justify the price to myself that way.

The dress is lined and hangs “heavy” so it does look nice. The colour is more like a gold/khaki in RL (if there is such a combination)

@AnyFucker I really like that, I'm looking for a dress for a November wedding and that might fit the bill. What's the sizing like? I'm a 6-8 but it's sold out in a 6, if it runs small I might try the 8. And the length? I'm 5'2, it might be more of a maxi on me. Really like the pink too but the bridesmaids will be in rust so we'd clash horribly (DP is best man).

God I love that green colour. Beautiful dress.
AnyFucker · 13/08/2021 11:55

I am a standard size 12 and I got the Ted Baker size 3. The size 2 fitted but rather snugly and the tie waist sat a bit too high

I an 5ft 10 and the skirts swishes beautifully at mid calf for me

AnyFucker · 13/08/2021 11:57

The pink was also nice, but like above, it would have clashed with the bridesmaid dresses

ashmts · 13/08/2021 12:10

@AnyFucker Thanks for that. After looking at the size guide it turns out I'm not as much of a 6 as I thought post-lockdown Grin So I've ordered an 8 and 10 to try on. Just hope it's not too long as it looks lovely

AnyFucker · 13/08/2021 12:23

Good idea. I can sometimes be a 10, but the 12 (size 3) skimmed much more flatteringly over the bumpy bits
