There seem to be so many different products out there, and I don't mind spending some cash, but how do you work out what's best for your skin type/ lifestyle?

I have pretty good skin for my age (40's) but it can be sensitive and flair up with some spots / redness. I've tried various high street and posh brands but can't see any obvious differences except for some which definitely don't suit (Kehils).

When I've asked for advice when having a facial, they just seem to promote the brands they stock.

There are lots of options for help/advice.
Some people rate Caroline Hirons, she has a book and a website and there's a freaks Facebook page. Others don't rate her.

For many people the essentials are Vit A, But C and sunscreen.

Actually spf50 applied properly every day (and topped up every two hours if you're not using Evy) are the starting point. After that cleansing, Vit A* and Vit C are a question of finding something properly formulated, that your skin tolerates, at a price point you can afford.

If you think of it in terms of actual ingredients and what they do, rather than brands or products it's a lot easier.
