Another Skin and Me question: tret dosage?

Frumpypigskin · 07/08/2021 13:01

Hello, I'm on the 7th month of Skin and Me and I've just received my latest doser and it's the same tretinoin % as my last month: 0.021%
I have emailed them to ask why, but in the meantime I was interested to know what dosage other people are on and whether it was normal that you get 'stuck' on a low dose.
I mentioned the % to a beautician and her comment was 'it's not even worth bothering at that percentage'.
Can I ask for your experience? Thank you

A beautician told me to stop my skin&me Tret as it would thin my skin and ultimately do terrible damage. Then she refused to wax my face because of it Confused

Another beautician said that Tret will do wonders for my skin and strengthen it over time, that it is the only thing worth using in terms of anti aging.

So different people are saying different things.

I can see visible results and I think I am on my 5th or 6th doser, it’s at 0.018% and now I even look good on the Tesco self checkout camera Grin so I’m going to stick with it and be extremely conscientious with the spf 50.

I’m not on tret but as far as I know the percentage doesn’t matter. It will just take a lot longer to see results.

Very intrigued by this, can you explain what it is? 😊

Thank you for your answers. I got a response from them and it seems that that's the dose I'll now be on - I don't think the messaging is that clear but I think Coachradleys explanation is correct that it will still have an effect at that % but will take longer to see results.

Catdog24 Skin and Me is an online dermatologist-designed skincare (that's what they say on their website Smile) . You upload photos of your face and tell them your main skin concerns and they send you a monthly 'doser' to help address them. They are able to user ingredients such as tretinoin which aren't available over the counter.

As I said I'm seven months in and I have seen an improvement but unsure how much more of an improvement there will be at the same dose - but will give it a year.

What are you using it for? If it’s anti-ageing then the percentage is fine. If it’s for acne and it’s working, then it’s fine. It’s not necessary to work up to 0.1%. I’ve noticed a lot of derms are using 0.025 consistently.

Flambola · 07/08/2021 18:39

Increasing the percentage is really to do with acne and pigmentation, I believe. It won’t take away all of your lines but used consistently you will develop less.

If you want rid of dynamic lines you really need to go down the Botox route.

Thank you for your conciseness. I think I will look into it for my teen Daughter. 😊

Flambola Yes it's for anti-aging so that's helpful - thank you.

Catdog24 have look at the skin and me website - I have noticed a difference. There's another very similar company called something like Dermatica. If you decide to go down the Skin and Me route feel free to pm me for a code which will give you your first month free.
