Wonky face, anyone else?

I hate having my photograph taken. Noone has ever picked up on it in rl, you can't see it on vids, but I have a very lopsided face that only shows on photographs. I look like a picasso. Anyone else with this problem and how do you hide it? As if it's not bad enough having what teens now describe as "resting bitch face" I have a wonky resting bitch face Grin

My wonky face only shows in selfies but I haven’t noticed it in other photos or when I look in the mirror. I hide it by never showing anyone my selfies!! Grin

TheGirlWhoLived · 07/08/2021 06:41

Tom hanks has this too! That’s why he often films from one side, so at least you’re in good company Grin

FreeBritnee · 07/08/2021 06:42

Yep. One side of my face is lower than the other. Always has been.

goose1964 · 07/08/2021 06:45

No one's face is symmetrical, if it was it would look odd. Apparently the reason we look odd in photos is because you only see your face in a reflection so it's the wrong way round .

UseOfWeapons · 07/08/2021 07:22

I have a lopsided resting bitch face too.🤪
It doesn’t show when I’m really smiling, but the rest of the time, it does. Selfies make me look weird, so I tend not to bother.
I also have a very unusual chin.
Makes me smile a lot more, and masks have been a blessing in some ways!
Embrace it, I have nice ankles to compensate!
Although I can’t take pics of my ankles to show people.

LivingLaVidaBabyShower · 07/08/2021 07:29

Very wonky fave here.
I use a side parting to attempt to off set it

Ughmaybenot · 07/08/2021 07:35

Nobody’s face is entirely symmetrical. I remember reading an article about it backalong which was accompanied by photos of very beautiful people, edited such that their faces were symmetrical, and it made all of them look very strange indeed.
I have quite a noticeable lazy eye, and my muscles in one side of my face don’t work quite as they should and so my face is noticeably ‘lopsided’. It’s more noticeable in photos, rather than videos or irl, but always there. I choose not to pose head on for photos, and tilt my head very slightly, to take the edge off but it is what it is really. I’m still a pretty good looking person with a nice smile, even if it is lopsided Grin
Everyone has their own insecurities and ‘flaws’ that are always more noticeable to themselves than anyone else.

Chrissmasjammies · 07/08/2021 07:37

Yes absolutely. One eye lower and my upper lip on one side has a definite sent or dip.

DinosaurDiana · 07/08/2021 07:40

My FIL had a slightly wonky face that got worse as he got older.
So that’s something to look forward to !

Orangemochafrappacino · 07/08/2021 07:45

Celebs made to have symmetrical faces - it's seriously weird!

My face is pretty wonky too and I hate having my photo taken. Eyebrows are the trickiest! No advice but solidarity Grin

namesnamesnamesnames · 07/08/2021 07:54

Everyone has a face that is uneven. I first noticed it in my early 20s and was very conscious until I learnt that it's normal!

TeaAndStrumpets · 07/08/2021 08:06

Exactly! I'm fine on video but selfies are horrible. I was camera-shy for years (wonky teeth) but actually looking back I was quite pretty otherwise. My wonky teeth make my lips lopsided so I need my face to be in action to hide that IYSWIM. I have a thin face so the wrinkles hang, too....
I am 70 and I wish I'd taken a few more photos when I was younger. I recently had the morbid thought that I don't have a decent "funeral photo" but then I thought PHOTOSHOP and felt so much better Grin

swingsandroundaboutss · 07/08/2021 08:10

I went to a chiropractor for a hideously painful flare-up of an old shoulder injury earlier this year (pure desperation, he has an office round the corner from my work and the NHS physio I spoke to wasn’t very helpful).

He did offer some helpful tips for my posture but one thing he said was that I had an asymmetrical face - I thought yes, like everyone else! He was trying to claim it was all due to the alignment of my spine. I didn’t go back.

PurpleSapphire · 08/08/2021 05:09

Not just me then! I really notice it whenever I try to get a half decent selfie for fb (about once a year..anything more I find exhausting, too much effort). And why is it that test photos I take always look better? I can't use them as there always seems to be a mop bucket or something random in the background! I suppose we all have our hang ups, a few months ago dd said completely out of the blue "mum, does my mouth go up on one side?" (It does, bit of an Elvis lip). I just assumed she knew it did, it always has and it's part of her. She is a very good looking girl and still found something wrong with herself! I have always found the photos I take of the dc when they're just messing about look much better than "posed" ones though, they go all stiff and awkward, suddenly dont know where their limbs are, cant smile etc. That gives me hope, maybe i'm not as hideous as I think, maybe I do exactly the same thing as the dc when faced with a camera Grin

Oh me too! Eyes are the worst- totally different shapes and my bottom lip pulls to one side and one eyebrow is permanently raised! I sound like a right stunner, don't I?

Apparently, the more symmetrical your face, the more beautiful you are.

gunnersgold · 08/08/2021 07:57

Look at holly willoughby's face . One of her eyes is much smaller and lower than the other .. she is still very pretty .. don't worry about it , we are not supposed to be symmetrical

PurpleSapphire · 08/08/2021 07:58

I think that's bullshit. Look how many women fancied Richard Gere, Tom Cruise, Mel Gibson, Kevin Costner back in the day..not one of them has "perfect features", big noses and squinty eyes mostly. I think us women are too hard on ourselves! Grin

PurpleSapphire · 08/08/2021 08:01

Sorry, that was a reply to freekstar..now need to google holly to see if that woman isn't perfect. Grin

I hate having my photo taken because of my wonky nose. I was punched in the face on holiday (pure accident, playing water polo!) and heard my nose crack! There wasn’t any blood but a bit of bruising, I can now see in photos and certain lights my nose is crooked. Really annoying but not sure I can go through rhinoplasty to correct it when we have a 4 year old to care for. Keep telling myself one day I’ll get it sorted, it makes doing make up harder I think (particularly eyebrows)

PurpleSapphire · 08/08/2021 08:16

I have a deviated septum jellyfish, cant tell from the outside but I can't breathe through one side at all. I'm way too scared to get it fixed. Just googled Holly and yes, one eye is bigger than the other, I never would have noticed.

OP posts:
gunnersgold · 08/08/2021 08:17

She often has her hair over her smaller eye , it's just how faces are .. I really wouldn't worry about it .

PurpleSapphire · 08/08/2021 08:26

I do that too over my wonky one, every photo of me I allow online has one eye covered Grin

OP posts:
magicstar1 · 08/08/2021 08:41

I applied for my passport and they put crosshairs over the photo to make sure it’s centred. Mine wasn’t so they told me to take it again. After three attempts, we realised that my nose is not in the centre of my face....it’s off to one side. That was a surprise to me!

polexiaaphrodesia · 08/08/2021 08:49

Yep fellow wonky facer here! One of my eyes is smaller than the other and one of my eyebrows is more raised than the other. Rufus Sewell is my wonky face idol! 😍

PurpleSapphire · 08/08/2021 09:27

Oh dont start me on eyebrows..I have one that grows nicely and the other is a rebel..
