Where do you buy clothes for your pre-teens?

The DC are getting to the age where my go-to brands stop doing kids clothes but don't do a range for older children. DS in particular is moving up to secondary this year and I have no idea where to get clothes for him. I had a quick look on the Hollister website but it seems to be normal adult clothes sizes.

Where do you get clothes for your pre-teens?

Ds ia 12 I get most of his clothes from h&m, sometimes from sports shops or outdoor type shops. I went to an outlet centre the other day and got him stuff from, Trespass, Nike, adidas, North face. I wouldn't pay full price for those things though, they were end of line stock.

My DDs love H&M. They add things to the wish list and we then look through the list together. We also get a few things from Uniqlo (leggings, hoodies, cardigans). Shoes from (usually) Adidas.

BlowDryRat · 06/08/2021 15:55

I'd completely forgotten H&M. Good shout! I'll investigate the wish list.

TK Maxx often have stuff. My DC has been happy with pretty much anything as long as it is a black T shirt and black jeans.

My ds 13 wears joggers (from next as they are there only one skinny enough) and Adidas/Nike tshirts and hoody’s from sports direct.

AustinPowerful · 06/08/2021 19:57

Mine like sports stuff so football shirts, Nike or Adidas shorts, joggers, t-shirts and hoodies.

From sports direct, ebay or JD sports, Nike and Adidas online when there's a sale on!

Once my brother knows roughly what size he is in certain brands and styles, he picks secondhand/nearly new items out on Depop, Vinted or Ebay - so he can buy things from brands that he wouldn't necessarily be able to afford new.

Zara for similar age DS.
Also H&M.

My DS is going to secondary school in September as well. I normally get his clothes from the supermarkets, next, H&M and a few sports brands.

He's not quite into brands yet, but is becoming more aware brands like Nike, Adidas, Jordan, Northface etc. I buy him clothes in the next size up when they are on offer.

DD is 9. I think it's a bit different for girls, so I'll buy her clothes from Next, H &M, River Island and Zara.

Sisisimone · 07/08/2021 10:23

Dd loves Shein but not sure what it's like for boys.
Also Mango, Zara and some bits from New Look

glampingcamper · 07/08/2021 10:24

Next. He has no interest in brands so very easy to kit out in joggers/jeans and multipacks of plain t shirts!

Standrewsschool · 07/08/2021 10:25

My dc went into small and x-small men’s clothes.

M and M direct is quite good to buy clothes. ASOS as well.

AllTheSingleLadiess · 07/08/2021 10:59

H&M go up to age 14+
M&S go up to age 16
JD Sports do teen sizes

For girls there are more shops that do teen ranges like New Look but my boys wore a mixture of these.

AllTheSingleLadiess · 07/08/2021 11:01

Next go up to 16 too.
It depends on his fashion sense but my boys like plain clothes so you can't tell where they come from hence getting away with uncool places like M&S.

BlowDryRat · 07/08/2021 13:03

Thanks for all these suggestions. He's never been interested in clothes or brands but did ask for Nike trainers to go to secondary school. I was quite surprised as he quite often has to be sent back to his room in the morning to turn his top/trousers the right way round/inside out, put on pants and socks etc. He really couldn't be less interested in clothes!

Sports direct do stuff like Nike.

Watch out for when he moves onto which model of Nike he wants and he's no longer in children's sizes (6 and under) 🙈
