my teenager has prescribed medicated cream for acne which, on purpose, dries out the skin.
it needs to be used at night but
GP instructed me to get a non-oily face cream for the day to moisturise skin.

please recommend me something suitable and reasonably priced.
thank you so much

I personally love
Avène Hydrance Aqua-Gel Moisturiser for Dehydrated Skin
It doesn’t irritate my skin and is lightweight but hydrating. But I am in late 20s and luckily on the other end of the acne nightmare.

But anything by La Rochay Pose or CereVe (don’t know if they’re spelt correctly) are usually recommended by dermatologist for acne prone skin so their range is definitely worth a look at.

Hope this helps!

Nivea oil-free moisturiser is very good, around £3.99, sometimes50% off at Boots & Ocado.

My 17 yr DS has prescribed acne cream too and in the mornings he uses hyaluronic acid serum, a gel moisturiser and Ultrasun face spf50 (non greasy)

Seems to work well for him - the acne is really clearing up without his face getting too dry.

thank you all, I'll investigate!

is that all in one cream or several different things, please?
if possible would you mind taking a photo of the products?

I've used Avene & la roche posay before, I have oily skin so I use the non oily ones. Very good.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 06/08/2021 10:13

thanks Lego

the GP did recommend the Laroche Posey suncream, I might as well get the same range for normal cream

La Roche Posay. Lots of ranges. Effaclar is for oily skin but does contain salicylic- so check it won't react harshly with the acne treatment. Is it Benzoyl Peroxide?
Toleriane is very good for a damaged skin mantle.

Nip & Fab no shine moisturizer is good for oily teen skin.

Otherwise most Clinique moisturizer is oil free.

Make sure you do get something that moisturizer though- sounds daft but some people think greasy skin doesn't need moisture and hydration. If it doesn't get enough, the skin will produce more oil to compensate.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 06/08/2021 10:42

I'm confused.

I wasn't told to focus on skin type, just to get a non-oily formula.
does non-oily means it has to be for oily skin? or can I just get it for normal skin?

Non oily means doesn't contain oil. Will be billed as "oil free moisturizer"

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 06/08/2021 12:55

thanks, I did think that non-oily stuff could be found for different types of skin!
